If the student protests get larger and go on longer they will have to call in the Army under Apirat who is longing to unleash them and their pretty toys of death.

so according to you the government can't wait to kill students with 'their pretty toys of death' Yep, that's their aim alright lol..

When will the tanks arrive they have just bought?

To save on shipping costs they will be inside submarines........

I hope the tanks are not brought in or the army to kill there own people.

There will be no winners if that happens.

As I told my Thai wife, PM doesn't care about the people except that he and his cronies make money off Thais' backs. Unless the protesters have some actual way to remove him and his cronies the PM isn't going anywhere. Also, the PM doesn't care what the international community has to say as long as he has the support of China which he does. China is enjoying the meddling of the international community in both Thai and the Philippines internal affairs because such meddling is pushing such countries to China. Truth sucks sometimes but it's the truth.

Sad, .....and again, they falling for a Billionaire,  remember: the red shirt movement? They were campaigning for Thaksin and called themselves "United Front for Democracy Against Dictatorship" (UDD), I never understood that name.

Campaigning for a dictator and call themselves against dictatorship.

...and the sad story behind: bloodshed, a burning city and the dictator on the run.

I hope they will not repeat the same mistake.

They should learn from history............

History is a great teacher, indeed. But yo and I see different lessons here.

KiI hope the tanks are not brought in or the army to kill there own people.

There will be no winners if that happens.

Other government backers are also toeing Prayut’s line, saying the students are probably manipulated by opposition politicians.

If you're in the party of power here there's no way you're going to lose the privilege of the position. Protect it even if you know it's wrong.

So what doesn't make it a legal document and the company is challenging freedom of speech and signing a document under the threat of being terminated which is duress and Would be thrown out in court.

Besides that's just an excuse, what about the other 50 million what's there excuse?

But this is Thailand...so no one cares what`s the theory and in her case the Royal family is involved as biggest stakeholder. Would you throw away one decade of hard work, insisting that your freedom of speech is your right? Surely not! Only people who have the financial background and power don`t care about the consequences.

That`s why I am happy that this demonstrations are happening!

So you see everybody, he may need these new (reconditioned) tanks after all

Shades of '73, '76 and, to some extent, '92. I fear, when it comes, the put-down will be brutal. This is nothing like the red shirt/yellow shirt confrontation. This is far more serious. 6 million plus young people have been disenfranchised. We can only hope that a peaceful solution can somehow be found.

Next step: MoPH will announce closure of all schools and will instantiate universal quarantine, enybody found outside will be sent to a gulag. Convenient.

As i said a few days ago.....       The youth in Thailand are a lot more savvy now and as we've seen there was a large majority behind the youthful opposition leader, unfortunately democracy is only a word and by the looks of things there'll be a lot of young people getting damaged by the benevolent current "Leadership"...... It's coming...... Just look through the history that's available and you'll see what's coming in the future........

It doesnt matter. The spark has been lit and I hope all of you guys are prepared to go as far as bugging out if necessary. There is no one to stop the shooting if it starts, and there are more players  in the game.

Im very worried for Thailand, a place th at I truly love and where I have spent a lot of time in. Even here in Siem Reap its fun and has its advantages over Thailand, but it isnt Thailand. Its sad and I hope you all get by OK. Just be prepared...for anything.

I for one wouldnt be keeping many assets other than the bare minimum in Thailand if you can swing it. If you are "stuck", register with your embassy and buy gold.

I ran my place down in Bkk, i basically use it as storage now as it's cheaper than storage.... I stay in Penang as much as i can but i can see very black clouds on the horizon, but the more disturbing fact is that there's no one to call time out when it gets nasty, like back in 92........  just sit back and watch the massacre........ it's coming.... Hopefully the West will reign in the dogs......

Inaccurate post.

Dunno how to delete.

Can one of our lovely mods delete this?

I wonder if that is really legal even here?

One of the only things legal here is bending over and spreading them and paying for the privilege.

well said. remember the Red Shirts in Bangkok ? They were allowed to protest and disrupt Bangkok for weeks. Being allowed to protest, not what they expected and wanted. In the end tired of waiting for an excuse, they just started themselves and burned down Central and some other places.

Hmmm, great alternative, lets vote and fight for another billionaire who will toss us a few peanuts while stuffing his own pockets.

And like all these protests for "democracy" the protesters have zero consideration that their "protests" disrupt the economy scares away tourists and busineses and if they think yr busines is not in line with them they wont hesitate to smash the place.

N0 THANK YOU.

Change the broken Thaksin , Thaksin , Thaksin record....the time's they are a changing.

THIS IS GOOD NEWS!

THIS GOVERNMENT ARE UNELECTED.

Thailand is no more democratic than any other SE Asian nation. At least Vietnam and Laos don't pretend to be!

<deleted>, i nearly Pi%$#@D myself laughing then.........Vietnam and Laos are Communist, Singapore, Malaysia, and what was British Hong Kong........ Democracy..........?     Get off the pipe mate......

I think it won't be long before VPNs are made illegal in Thailand, and the reason for it will be political unrest and the online organisation of said unrest. Sooner though I predict that the COVID-19 situation will be leveraged to ban all protests and social gatherings, but that won't stop the savvy and awake folk who are pi55ed as hell. They will mobilise online until the situation regarding the virus stabilises.

Good time it would appear to start preparing an exit plan if you live in the land of smiles.

No way. Chatchai Choonhavan for me. Thaksin put press freedom and open criticism of the government into complete reverse.

So should you FRANZS

This is what Prayut didn't want happening, right at the beginning of his journey as junta leader, he clamped down hard on the Students, you watch, Prayut doesn't want history repeating itself, then again it  sometimes has a bad habit of doing just that.
