I never eat from a buffet. I do not want food that has been sitting at the wrong temperature, being coated with dust, hair and dandruff from others, and in these times having people cough over it and depositing viruses.

You certainly make it sound like an attractive proposition.????

A rather inopportune time to be indulging in communal food handling and consumption, no?

Yes I agree. We were going to the Lotus Hotel buffet for lunch about once a week. After a while they were seating the Chinese on the opposite side of the restaurant (which does nothing). Many Thais were seen walking in, but upon sighting of Chinese, they turned around and walked out. Last time we went, we also became concerned about the food area, utensils, etc. being a hotbed for the spread of coronavirus. There were maybe only 2 other tables occupied. The hostess said each day here was less customers. We haven't been in about a month.

I am a great fan of Chiang Mai's various buffets, and would eat at them at least once a week.

But... with conditions as they are right now, when all it takes is one cough at the wrong time...

I'll wait a few more weeks before I'll resume eating at buffets.

Amazing that so many people have such poor immune systems.

With the diets of high sugars (150lbs a year for Americans,) high starches, rancid oils, large quantities of alcohol every day (despite how much fun it is, alcohol is still technically a poison,)  etc., etc.,  it doesn't surprise me at all.

I'm avoiding buffets in the current Corona climate.

OP,

This topic has several old threads which had a lot of suggestions so suggest you start there.

Is it time for another burger thread?

I don't do buffets often but I have to agree about Auf der Au. A good selection of good quality at a reasonable price.

Yes and a seldom chance to eat some proper desserts.

For me not often either but in BKK I lived near Ibis sathorn so I could do breakfast + lunch at once, they also had a real coffee machine and ice cream + a terrace where you could work on WiFi and smoke cigarets. So just the 3x coffee would earn me back my money already.

Golden times until the Chinese came, they started bagging the food so things became more sober. That is why I never attempted the Ibis in Chiang Mai.
Think the price is over 250-300 baht by now as well (but with visa card of one of the banks often 10-20% discount).
