I live 50km south of Khon Kaen and am due for eye surgery there this week.
I would need to use local transport to get there and would use train rather than bus.

It would be possible but, not preferable, to delay the operation until a later date however by that time Covid19 may have spread.

I am cautious about the virus but not panicking, I still use my local market but wear a mask etc.    Worked in farming since the early 60's in various countries so am aware of disease risks.
Yesterday I was 'told' that two cases of Covid19 had been reported in KK, is this correct ?

Its probably why KK has had many places shut effective today

The blue dot on the map is the provincial government complex not KKU or the main provincial hospital and is probably where there are quarantines in place.

From Nation report 23MAR2020:

Khon Kaen announced shutdown measures on Sunday (March 23) to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus (Covid-19) after five cases of infection were confirmed in the province. ...

Meanwhile, Dr Somchaichote Piyawatwela, Khon Kaen public health officer, said that the five confirmed cases of Covid-19 infection "are being treated in quarantine, while public health staff are monitoring people who have made contact with the five patients recently after telling them to self-quarantine at home,” he said.“In the next weeks, we expect more Khon Kaen locals to travel back home from Bangkok following the shutdown policy, so we will increase staff at checkpoints and hospitals to prevent further spread of Covid-19.”

Should be enough to read the respecting thread.

And nothing special, just following the Bangkok measures from yesterday.

Spread to many if not all provinces.

As far as I understand from the wife, Srinagarind hospital is handling non-Wuhan virus patients, the state hospital on Srichan Road is doing the Wuhan virus patients.

The eye dept of Srinagarind is very much desinfecting anything and anybody.

For that matter, so is the state hospital.

Delay op, don’t Travel. 101 of disease control : assume everyone is infected and act accordingly

Yes.  Is it critical or can you wait 30 days?

I'm surprised hospitals haven't closed to all but emergencies and covod-19 treatment.

OP - yes I have decided to cancel my visit, I also understand that the Covid19 situation will worsen, perhaps for many weeks.

I have also decided to stop my 3 monthly local BP clinic visit ( basically to get meds as my condition has been stable and improving for a long time ).
