Sakon Nakhon governor BANS sale of alcohol until 16 April

 

 

The Governor of Sakon Nakhon has banned the sale of alcohol across the province until 16 April.

 

The order released on Monday evening, “prohibits the sale of spirits and alcoholic beverages of all kinds” from 31 March 2020, due to the coronavirus, COVID-19.

 

Violation of the order may result in up to 1 year in jail and/or a fine up to 100,000 baht.

 

While bars and restaurants are closed throughout Thailand, the order is thought to be the first outright ban on the sale of alcoholic beverages during the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

Other provinces, such as Chonburi, have ordered convenience stores, such as 7-Eleven and Family Mart, to close from 8pm to 5am.

The alcoholics won't be happy with this one, there will be big problems from this.

 

Making people stay at home is one thing, preventing them from having a little drink while sitting in their home with absolutely nothing to do is something very different.

Out here in the moo ban, the bros-in-law and I have gone through a box of big Leos, and two 1 liter bottles of Blend 285. Now they're doing small bottles of lao khao every evening before dinner, which is too hardcore for me. Next on the menu is a 1.5 liter bottle of 100 Pipers, which by the looks of things we'll have to stretch out. Bah. I could really go for some Jack.

Oh please don't start on that one. I lived through a week of no internet during the coup in Egypt which brought down Mubarak. It was not very nice at all being completely in the dark about what was going on.

Looks like a s**t load of alcohol will be sold by mom and pop shops at sunrise tomorrow.. A veritable stampede with Lao Khao becoming as rare as hens eggs.

 

Within a week the place will be over run by Somchai Kapones and there will be stills in all the eucalyptus plantations. Bootleg booze smuggled in on every dirt track.

Only reason i can think is to quell domestic violence,in fact they have enacted a similar law in Nuuk,capital of Greenland,i have been of the drink for 5 days after a bilious attack, and a bit of pain in my liver,but i have amassed ten cases of real english cider,in my cellar,well store cupboard,so bring it on you <deleted>'s i am locked and loaded,apart of course if i have another bilious attack.

You are correct I do like a drink of red wine at night when I watch TV( i am back in Australia now)

I used to buy 4 or 5 liter wine casks because of the cheaper price, also I don't have to go

to the bottle shop to often, but now I am only allowed to buy a small cask ( 2 liters) so that means

I have to go bottle shop hopping which cost me more on petrol and increase the risk of cayching

that virus.

Worked with a bunch of addicts in the middle east that couldn't go without it, they just started making 100's of liters like I'm sure they'll do here. Hope they shut sales down country wide, no need for drunken <deleted> in a health emergency.
