Thai billionaire 7/11 boss urges government to allow tourists to return

It is obvious that Thailand should allow people from low risk countries to come ASAP.  Tourists from similar or lower risk countries should be welcomed back before Thai tourism industry are fatally damaged further.

From the article,

Following the country’s shut down in early March, millions have lost their jobs, either permanently or temporarily, and the tourism industry, which Thailand relies on so heavily, is amongst the hardest hit. With the number of new Covid-19 cases currently following a downward trend, Dhanin says the time to act is now.

“We can’t wait until a vaccine is developed and produced in sufficient quantity to roll out to the entire population. The economy won’t survive that long.”

I agree 100%.  Open the gate, Mr. PM.

With respects, who counts as a 'lower risk' country ? The ones that fiddle their figures ?

so the 7-11 owner CP making millions during lockdown as he was the only store open ... now wants more because the millions wasn't enough, now he is greedy ..

he is a greedy man ... AIS cut ties with 7-11 because they kept putting their commission fees up.

Dhanin Chearavanont is the Chairman of CPALL and was appointed this position in 1999. Mr. Chearavanont was ranked the 132nd richest person in the world and the 2nd richest in Thailand by Forbes in 2017. He also holds chairmanship in Charoen Pokphand Group and directly holds, with his family, 8% of CPALL's shares.

If at all possible because of geopolitics
They should return to easy visas for 2-3 years
This country in the region that will be able to offer

easy entry and stay can gain a long-term advantage over its neighbors.

Let me guess which 'low risk'  country the Thai/Chinese owner of CP has in mind?

I guess it does make sense from an economic point of view, but somehow feels unfair.

There is no denying the irony of no risk country for China.  But we have to practice: it is what it is. If you randomly test 1000 Chinese now VS 1000 Europeans VS 1000 Americans, you would know who is low risk.

World is full of complex issues.  What we talking about here is how to save the Thai tourism industry from unnecessary further damage.  Focus on the issue at hand.
