Once the world finally opens up again back to normal (which it will , probably in a few years) where are you gonna go for a blow out?

Probably Siem Reap, as my last trip there was cut short by the borders closing.

But it depends on time of year, SR is hot as hell in the summer, and flight prices.

Loads of bars, beer, loose women, things to see, cannabis and nice (but reasonably priced hotels).

I always stay here, Garden Village Guest House and Pool Bar. $12 night in their best air-con rooms by the pool and beer served 24/7 at 50c a glass.

 

The UK hopefully. My old man isnt so good these days and i really want to take my son so we can basically say goodbye. i was getting all set to go before the world went to rat s**t.

 

Also, my lad wants to visit Goodison Park. so many places i want to show him and i spent most of the work from home period rattling on about the places we could go to once its all as near to normal as its going to get.

Have flights booked already for Hong Kong as Emirates allow changes at no cost.  If HK is still a problem then Hanoi.  

But first...my local in Cha Am. Please.

Probably to a cinema, and for sure will be eating out alot. But, the more important points about opening up are that it will take some time to see how this all shakes out, but it is my opinion that the economic fallout from the inane economic shutdown, is going to be 200 times worse than Covid itself, and the recovery "ramp up" will be long and excruciating. Far longer than they say. It will not just bounce back. In the history of the world, as far as we know, there has never been a deliberate worldwide economic shutdown. It is light years beyond dumb. The "slowdown" will last well into 2021, for certain. And some industries may never come back, or will be a pale shadow of their former selves. No doubt homelessness will skyrocket in the US. Tourism in Thailand will never recover to even close to it's former levels, and that leaves millions out of work.

 

What about concerts? Will people be willing to hang out with crowds of 20,000, at a cost of hundreds of dollars for a crappy seat? Same with sports. Will people be willing to go into a stadium or an arena with 20,000 to 100,000 people close together, and pay crazy money for a seat? Movie theaters? Cruise ships? Will the hordes just start descending on restaurants again, and pay inane prices for a gourmet meal? The list goes on, and on and on. And in the end, hundreds millions worldwide could end up far poorer than they were before. And tens of millions could end up starving to death, compared to perhaps 300,000 or so total deaths worldwide from Covid. OK. The rich stay safe and financially secure. And the rest of us? And those of us who are self employed, without fortunes in the bank? There are so many unanswered questions, it boggles the mind. One thing is for certain. Thailand will be feeling the effects of this for a very, very long time. So will the rest of the world.

Don't know. You make it sound as if we have been locked down for years not just a few months, and don't most on here rarely leave the country anyway?

I totally agree with you.

Anywhere beyond the end of my road will suit me. I've forgotten whats out there! 

After nearly 2 months of my pool closure, first thing Sunday morning was a much welcomed return to my favorite sport.  My God how I missed it (more than me Changs!) and how out of shape I was. Struggled to do 30 lengths, but now it's Thursday up to 40.

 

Just this makes me physically and mentally feel soo much better. Small, simple things we all took for granted - now I mightily appreciate these. Sorry nothing exciting or special.

I was supposed to be leaving tonight for the UK but obviously am not now. I have a British Airways voucher so will probably try to rebook at some point. Siem Reap was my home before here for 5 years so will also do a short trip.

 

This comes after a trip to KFC, MacDonalds and an Indian Restaurant for a good curry as all are 3 to 5 hours drive.

I  have an open ticket can use it anytime any flight no cost as  long as seat available in Business  Class up to Novemebr 30, any flight with klm , air  france, delta  etc after Nov 30 have to pay any fare  difference. Was  supposed to be in the UK May30th but after 2  weeks of emails back n forth persuadedklm air france to give me an open ticket with no fare increase, either that or Id  fight them in court and as THEY cancelled the european rules are  refund if wanted,no voucher rubbish.
