What should I do/have to do when license valid for another year but I have new passport. Can I get issued a new license with new passport number on and valid to same date as the existing license without the renewal process? Btw, its a 5 year license.

Don't bother until you need a new DL.

Yes you can, and yes I did, and on a few occasions it save me some hassle.

Thanks for replying and will get it changed if for nothing else to avoid hassle when in situations where both license and passport are demanded.

The first time I changed my passport in the middle of a 5-year DL I changed the licence to suit, and the expiry date remained the same. It was very easy to do. The second time I only had a year left on my DL so I didn't bother, and didn't get any hassle. I always think it's better to be safe than sorry though as you never know when some jobsworth tries to say your licence is invalid.
