Thai's not paying bills or leaving it to the very last minute?

Featured Replies

Not wanting to generalise too much here, hence the ?, as it maybe just my missus and her family, however unlikely.

So, do they ever pay on the due date? Mine don't. In Thailand most of the bigger corps will let you go at least one month overdue before cutting you off, which to me is fair enough, some close up to 2 months. My wife usually will go to 2 months overdue before she reluctantly pays, and even then may only pay the overdue amount.

I went to her family's house the other week in the sticks (was horrific, but that's not for now) We arrive, exchange pleasantry's etc, then I ask for the wifi password, so i can re-connect to civilisation 'Oh, no wifi, not pay bill for 3 months' is the retort. Ridiculous. Guess who ended up paying the 2k, yep old muggings here, but mainly because it would have literally been unbearable staying there with no wifi, plus my kids wanted to get online, of course.

So, is this just another 'Thai thing' do they miraculously think these debts may just go away if ignored?

My patience is close to the wall now dealing with these *fill in the missing word*

Recently i gave my wife money to pay for the internet, on her arrival home, i said you pay the internet, no it is not due for 3 days.... What it needs paying, why wait till the last day, what if for some reason you cannot get there on the last day, no problem they not cut for a few days.????

Pay the bills yourself. I do all from my Bkk Bank App, lekky, water, 3BB, AIS top up and spending money for her. Never been cut off.

How much @Keyser Soze666 would have instead cost you to pack your bags and, for the remainder of your stay - sit online 24/7 in an Internet cafe back in town?

I do pay the bills myself, or I'd be sitting here with no electric or water. The only one she pays is her True Move bill. I should have made that more clear tbf. Then there is her sister, although admittedly that would never normally effect me, but it still supports the argument.

My Thai GF is pretty good at paying her bills on time with my money.

I think they cut you off earlier in the west for unpaid bills, think they are very fair here, probably know what Thai's are like ????

Yea, well my one still don't pay her only bill with my money.

No.

They are hoping someone else will come along and pay it.  Which you did.

Seems they are pretty smart.

Not with the internet!  True will cut after about 5 days overdue; which internet company allows a month past due date without cutting service?

You genius. I weally weally wished I was like you.

Btw, why are you always angry?

Certainly, personal experience.

An overdue internet bill from True, for example, doesn't result in instant cancellation of the service, they wait a few days and then, if you call them, they will usually reconnect for another three days to allow you time to get the bill paid.

Sorry, but that simply is not true (no pun intended) at all. I have True internet and they allow you to go at least a month overdue. I know this as a stone cold hard fact, so let's not go there.

Which can be done INSTANTLY on the phone you just called them on via the internet, so why need three more days?   PML

You didn't have your phone's internet service that could have been used as hotspot?

My wife's brilliant at paying bills with my money

They took my water meter away last year.

Misses had been given money, but didn't pay it (even though on her phone app).

Said I'd leave if the utilities were cut again. She hasn't dared forget a bill since.

I don't need three more days, I'm just telling you what True offers it's customers as you did ask.  Seems as though my reply that backed-up my claim wasn't to your liking.
