Treatment with Hydroxychloroquine Cut Death Rate Significantly in COVID-19 Patients, Henry Ford Health System Study Shows

<deleted> is hydroxychloroquine?.  Sounds worse than Covid-19 itself.  Anyway I'll stick to G+T's, appears to have worked for me for the last 6 months.

Didier Raoult has been saying this from day 1 and his numbers prove it.  South Korea and China have also been using this protocol.

Never let good results trump anti Trumpers though.

https://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/3860152/posts   Dr Raoult testified under oath before the French national assembly on June 24th.

Among the testimony, he alluded to the Oxford study which used 4X the lethal dose to reach their conculsion that HCQ was ineffective.  "

Treatment Became a Secondary Matter

With the emphasis on randomized research, on the various competing drugs, and the public debate about the alleged dangers of hydroxychloroquine, Professor Raoult suggested that treatment became sort of a secondary matter. He alluded to the “gold standard” randomized studies so much lauded by the medical research establishment, in France and in countries like the UK. For him, in some instances, patients were transformed into guinea pigs. He mentioned the example of the Oxford RECOVERY trial where hydroxychloroquine was used at quadruple toxic dosage on the first day."

"

The Lancet Refused to Publish IHU-Marseille’s Observational Study

Professor Raoult revealed that is landmark study about the use of hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin as an early treatment for COVID-19 was not accepted by The Lancet. That happened the very same week as the venerable British scientific journal accepted the now infamous study about the alleged high dangers of hydroxychloroquine, relying on fake data, by Mehra et al, which has now been retracted."

Someone else seeing great success is Dr Zelenko in NY.  He added zinc to the protocol and says that zinc is the mechanism that actually kills covid.  HCQ opens up the pathway for zinc to get in and do it's work.

Sure seems like HCQ debate is nothing but a political and headline grabbing issue and all the work done in China, South Korea, France and elsewhere is overlooked.

Anti-Trumpers refuse to view media that report on this kind of thing, so they will remain ignorant and full of hate (which comes from fear).

The last paragraph is a very funny way of saying "azithromycin killed some patients who  were on HCQ"

Hopefully,  when they did their study their way of thinking was less convoluted.

No, it doesn't say that, no researcher would assume that. There is a very small (2.3 percentage point) difference and more research would be needed to see why; might simply be a statistical fluke.

the actual study is here  https://www.ijidonline.com/article/S1201-9712(20)30534-8/fulltext

While meeting the test for statistical significance, the difference in mortality between the intervention and control group is modest. Especially when the confidence interval is taken into account, at which point there is less than a 7 percentage point difference.

Definitely not a panacea or the "game changer" it had been hyped up to be but this study suggests that it might -- emphasize might -  provide a small reduction in mortality if given early.

"the study results should be interpreted with some caution, should not be applied to patients treated outside of hospital settings and require further confirmation in prospective, randomized controlled trials that rigorously evaluate the safety and efficacy of hydroxychloroquine therapy for COVID-19."  https://www.henryford.com/news/2020/07/hydro-treatment-study

It will also be important to study the effects of receiving both hydrochloroquine and dexamethasone in severe COVID

2nd par. : 26 % getting nothing died

13 % on HCQ died (sounds good,  doesn't it? )

Last par.: 20 % on HCQ plus azithromycin died

That doesn't look good for azithromycin. Sounds like azithromycin takes away a lot of the benefit of HCQ.

But as I said, convoluted.

This is a sample, It is the Confidence Interval that is important.

And even for the CI, there is 5% possibility that actual figure is outside that range.

As the researchers say, it is necessary to reproduce these results on a larger scale in prospective trials before firm conclusions can be made.
