Thailand travel bubble in chaos: Plans for international flights between participating countries put off indefinitely

In Australia the PM stated that as restrictions eased pockets would continue to pop up, but that was acceptable as the hospitals were ready to deal with it.

Then in Melbourne cases started to pop up, the media started screaming 2nd wave, and the rush for toilet paper restarted. Parts of Melbourne are now under house arrest for 6 weeks. So again we see this is not about easing the burden on hospitals, the idiots are trying to exterminate a virus.

So will be no travel bubble between Oz and Thailand any time soon.

Latest research suggests that a 20% infection rate confers herd immunity, in other words the virus will die out naturally. This news was of course not well received by vaccine makers. The US is in a panic as cases rise, the media is going wild. What they are not reporting in that the death rates have been falling for weeks and continue to do so. Assuming this continues the whole thing should be over within 6 months. If so then we'll all wonder why governments in most countries got it wrong and destroyed their economies.

Over time doctors learn what works and what doesn't in terms of treatment. Falling death rates could mean a weaker virus, but it could also mean doctors are using the knowledge gained to provide more effective treatments. For example, doctors have found that holding off on ventilator use has benefits in terms of limiting the side effect of blood clots, which have been the cause of death of numerous people put on ventilators.  There's always a cost-benefit in any treatment option.

As for 'herd immunity', again, it is too early to tell. The scientific journal Nature published research from China, looking at the earliest infected folks, and found anti-body decline to negligible levels after 2-3 months.  The length of anti-body survival for MERS, in contrast, is 34 months on average.

That "travel bubble" idea was never feasible to begin with. Even if it had panned out, it never would've attracted the foreign tourist numbers those dreamers at TAT and assorted ministries hoped for.

They have probably found that the other countries were not going to accept the ludicrous conditions that were going to be imposed for the bubble trips. Now there has to be an excuse. If you look

Someone can explain to me this ''problem'' with the toilet paper? Sorry but i don't get it

What is the point to storing at home this product when there is no shortage of it in the shops?

For  Melbounians, toilet paper seems to be the most important thing in life.

So you can guess what they do all day long

Just because Thailand opens up "travel bubbles" for a few nations doesn't mean that everybody is immediately going to hop on a plane. People have different priorities right now than spending tight money on an overseas vacation. And especially not a vacation that basically would restrict them to a clearly defined, restricted area with no freedom of movement outside that "bubble".  That's my opinion anyway.

That encapsulates it perfectly ..

Expect another U-Turn tomorrow.

Can't see why Thailand is not opening up to EU while they allow Thai citizens to come in.

I guess after China the EU probably the biggest number of tourists coming to Thailand.

And with the ending summer, many tourists from Europe would like to spend some warmer days here.

Thai Government-----Chaos------How could anyone say such a thing hahaha

Maybe because of something called covid19 ?

The Thais returning at home from europe are quarantined for 14 days

do you think a tourist on a 1 month annual holiday is ready to accept

to stay confined in an hotel room during 14 days at his own expenses?

I don't think so

Big opportunity for the sale and installation of bum guns

True, maybe a big market to take for a clever entrepreneur

we don't have this problem here in Thailand

the paper toilet is on the table, not in the toilets

"I'm forever blowing bubbles,
Pretty bubbles in the air,
They fly so high, nearly reach the sky,
Then like my dreams they fade and die.
Fortune's always hiding,
I've looked everywhere,
I'm forever blowing bubbles,
Pretty bubbles in the air.
I'm dreaming dreams, I'm scheming schemes,
I'm building castles high.
They're born anew, their days are few,
Just like a sweet butterfly.
And as the daylight is dawning,
They come again in the morning!"

China, not so bad, if their numbers are to be believed.  Singapore and Japan, not so much... from the WHO daily situation report for July 7. The new cases and death numbers are the 2nd and 4th columns:

Please show us accurate research that 20% confers immunity

There will be NO travel bubble now or in the near future.

Air Asia shares have been halted as of today and the airline is in financial difficulty.

Forget international travel for the foreseeable future.

I agree, keep international travel bans in place until  there is a vaccine for the virus.

Once the vaccine is available, then only allow  people to enter  Thailand that have had the vaccine.

Until then, keep he flood gates tightly in place.

Two countries not on the travel bubble list are Vietnam and Taiwan. There haven't been any covid in the community cases in Vietnam for 78 days. Maybe the Thais do not want to upset their Chinese friends.

"Herd immunity" is the political banner of virus deniers who want society to take no virus precautions now, have the illness and death rates skyrocket particularly among the vulnerable, and then claim the sick and dead should be praised for allowing economies to reopen without requiring preventive precautions.

It is indeed true, right now, that CV cases are skyrocketing in many parts of the U.S., but death rates are not so much, thus far.  Whether that's because of the normal lag time between when a case is diagnosed thru the progression of illness to a death, OR, whether medical intervention is getting better OR something else, I don't think anyone knows for sure at this point.

Even the most mentally challenged realised it would never happen. It would seem the TAT and government didn't fall into that category. What a surprise.

I am looking forward to the next hair brain, daft idea that blows smoke up someones rear but practically it will never work, I imagine I will not have long to wait. :coffee1:

Edit to Add:   I predict a most excellent buyers market in property, housing and vehicles in next 6 - 8 months.

Absolutely.

Tears and snotters all over the place as they possess Somchai's modded pick-up or the loan sharks come round and take grandma's chanote.

Watch them go after the farang company name land owners too.

Any update on the possibility of an extension to the current visa amnesty? Surely it would make sense to extend it another 30-60 days, but... TIT so who knows?

What about 'let the Yanks and Brits in?'

I'm quite envious of your ability to be such a smart alec without any empathy for those that may be suffering either emotionally or financially as a result of this pandemic. You must feel extremely superior to everyone else on earth. After reading of some posters situation I feel very sorry for them. I hope things continue to go swimmingly well for you.

I like your humour but don't think that is one they have thought of yet. How about target people under 25 years of age, as they are super low risk of catching COVID 19 anyway.

Just a joke but I am sure there will be something soon, announced here within the next day or so.

Visa Amnesty - I guess that's good news so the current visas amnesty will have to be extended past 31st July

Maybe they are panicking because they might have to cancel the 3 submarines on order and bail out the economy instead, Or even better hand out money to the needy.

Thailand did not need submarines in the first place.

555! Nev, I am clicking the like button for that!

It's going to be Thailand travelers travel only travel within Thailand for awhile. Even in the USA some places tell you if you come to our state you have to quarantine for 14 days and that is just within the USA. So, a one night stay, a weekend stay, or a week stay just became a 2 week +stay. Nobody has that much time n $$ to spend. Wait for a vaccine or a yearly shot like the flu before anyone travels outside any ones border.

Said it yesterday.  My gut feeling was Sept to Nov for a tourist reboot Which I revised out to sometime in the future...but now we can safely say December...........2021!  Maybe!

One might add that the visa amnesty could be extended to coincide with this.

Apparently there are upwards of 40,000 in Thailand benefiting from the amnesty, which means that number spending money. It may not be the usual 40 million per year, but that many people can support a decent number of Thai jobs, which is a plus. Every little bit helps. The Labor Minister and TAT head should get the PM's ear.

They have reopened Muang Thong Thani temp immigration so it certainly won't be an amnesty for those of us stranded here unable to get entry to regional countries. It would be nice if they made some sort of announcement about what the requirements will be since no reasonable system will be set up for people to travel into or out of countries with the disease under control.

I have a 28 year lease on a house in thailand would this be proof of residency . to get back if i were in the UK. and a valid retirement visa
