Something to think about

It's pretty clear to see a lot of us are in the same boat when it comes to uncertainty regarding the end of amnesty. I was talking today with the guy who helps me with visa-related issues (he's been in the business for 25 years) and he suggested something that I thought I'd share here.

The Thai Immigration authorities don't give a <deleted> about us farang. They just don't. They do, however, care about our wives, girlfriends, and children. We can bellyache and complain all we want and it will have no effect, but if we want to see this amnesty extended until it's feasible for us to not be forced back to our home countries (where many of us simply don't even have anywhere to live) what we need to do is get our wives, girlfriends, and adult children if we have them to call the immigration authorities.

There is something like 200k farang on long-term stay in Thailand in one form or another. That's 200k wives and girlfriends between the lot of us (maybe 400k haha). If even 1% of these wives and girlfriends could be convinced to call immigration in the next week to complain their providers, husbands, and fathers of their children were being forced out, the immigration authorities simply couldn't ignore them.

So instead of sitting here worrying about the status of your visa at the end of the month, every single person who reads this needs to get their wife and/or girlfriend on the phone with Thai immigration first thing tomorrow morning and let them know that they're really upset that their significant other is being forced out of the country. A huge outpouring of calls to action from Thais to the immigration authorities would go a long way towards ending the insanity that appears to be coming down the pipeline without an extension to this visa amnesty at the end of the month.
