Thailand's prison problem: Teach convicts English and send them off to work abroad!

 

Thailand has come up with an ingenious way to solve their prison overcrowding problem and help the labour market.

 

The highest authorities in the land are coming together to export convicts. 

 

The country's jails are full to bursting with criminals and many have been deemed safe for release of one kind and another. 

 

So the plan is to train them better in all the varied skills they will need so they can reenter society and work. 

 

While most will end up in valuable positions in the Thai labour market some will inevitably end up abroad. 

 

Thus prisons and vocational training courses could soon feature classes in English or other languages that would aid convicts in landing plum employment abroad. 

 

Yesterday in Bangkok amid much razzamatazz, Justice minister Somsak Thepsuthin and his counterpart at the Labour Ministry MR Chatumongkol Sonakul signed an agreement of cooperation on the scheme.

Can you think of anything more ridiculous.  They do not want there own people in their own country because they will continue to be incarcerated time and time again.  So instead lets teach them English and send our problem children away to work as laborers.  Is that not how Australia was initially formed....I may be wrong but I thought it was where convicts were sent.  Maybe the Thai's can team up with there Chinese counterparts and a new Great wall of Thailand can be built...

 

Besides that I do not think you can get a visa to go elsewhere if your a convicted Felon..

Again with this BS , Thailand doesnt want criminals from other countries SO WHY do you think they will take in yours .

What needs to be done is to buy an island somewhere .. and start a new 'Australia' ... If Australia managed to base its foundation on criminals ... Clearly this can be replicated, just need to find a suitable island .. ????

Maybe one that sinks every ten years and then rises again so that it can continually be re-populated with murders, drug sellers, and those corrupt Government officials such as the ones thinking about this stupid plan...You can not make this stuff up, but then everyday they open there mouths and insert there feet.  Damned crazy uneducated people who think the world revolves around Thailand.  Yet I would expect no less and everyday I have several good laughs at what is happening around me.  Keeps my mind active and extends my life by enjoying silly things...

How about Alcatraz? It wouldn't even need that much modification.  

Two of Thailand's greatest exports, hookers and convicts. Maybe they could train the convicts to become pimps - surely onto a winner there.

As I tell him, you just can't make stuff like this up and it's real!

No have not heard from "Big Joke" lately at all, ooops wrong OP

They are copying the Chinese. They do this already on their overseas construction contracts. If you are a construction company in the west its very hard to compete with a Chinese company that has free labour.

When I saw the headline above, I was imaging teaching them Engrish and sending them to Siberia.
