How can you type up such a nasty comment regarding someone who had a serious accident. He is injured badly for Christ's sake..   Truly hope he recovers and makes it through as best as he can

I am more worried about the car he hit.

Have a look at Post #19 or the linked article.

He was not so lucky with automatic extensions.

Yea i agree its stupid to ride a motorbike without helmet. But Colin many will think we are stupid too for riding (or in your case) having ridden a motorbike. Even with helmet and stuff.

No lid, insurance apparently invalidated when he failed to follow UK government advice to return to the UK.

Does that mean all Brits here have invalid insurance now?

Seems odd.

I think this highlights one of the key differences between a Travel Policy and a Medical/Expat Policy.

You are not travelling if you live here, but many will opt for travel policy as they tend to be cheaper.

It would seem that those with policies from Virgin Money could have no cover. It would certainly do no harm whatever to get something in writing (email) from your provider.

I would say that it looks awfully like he had the wrong policy in the first place as he was living here.

No it doesn't. Mine is valid, including for COVID-19 claims.

Yep the guy might struggle to live and lowlives attack him

I don't wish harm to anyone who lives by the same belief, and I sincerely hope this guy makes a full recovery.

However, as a few have already mentioned, the guy was a fool, no protective gear, no insurance (terms not followed).  Now another Go Fund me for someone who obviously has the means to pay his own bills.

Be the big man, nice house, fast bikes, cars, flash Harry around town, now his family are begging for other people's money, while the fees could be paid for by his own means.   Some of these GFM pages are becoming an excuse for stupidity and carelessness.

Speedy recovery to the man, and I hope he donates a chunk of cash to some Thai orphanages or other charities when (if) he's recovered.

Oh ok...you wrote or

Yes I read;

Unfortunately not following FCO travel advice invalidates a policy. In addition, the maximum time our annual travel insurance policies cover single overseas stays is 90 days.”

My policy has the same conditions. But mine has been extended. But perhaps you needed to contact them. Perhaps he did not. I did.

I didn't just leave it and hope for the best. So each month, I get a new updated policy extension.

Don't see a post #19.

Post #19 of this thread, it has the quote from the insurance company which is from the linked article.

Sadly no helmet means no insurance  next well be seeing a ground me page good luck with that.Common sense is not that common.Super fit does not mean immortality

Goodness me, quite a lot of nasty people on here ready to attack the guy for his lifestyle and (Some foolish) choices about protective gear.

It's a UK newspaper, which is connected to The Daily Mail) is sensationalist tripe. I'm sure they got the best picture of him and inflated any details they could... further increased by some know-it-alls on TVF.

Give the poor guy a break and wish him a speedy recovery... or at least don't be so negative and 'it serves him right'.

I said a few weeks ago a lot of these people now on amnesty will now not be insured and I was berated for it. This guy found out the hard way, and insured or not no helmet is just stupid, another acting the cool guy that found out concrete and metal are harder than his head. Good luck to him he has a hard road ahead and if he was a boiler room scammer then karma has come knocking.

This is a discussion forum. They have every right to make valid comment. He ran a dodgy company, decorated with links to official government website to make it look as if he was endorsed by them. He possibly took travel insurance under false pretences. He chose to ride a bike without a helmet and now here he is begging for money after  probably scamming it from others.

Doesn't quite hit the sympathy button for me.

None of the details I have came from the article posted. I checked it out for myself. How about you?

He didn't find out the hard way. He knew and acted recklessly anyway.

He could have hit a child instead of the car too, so who is the lowlife?

His go fund me page says he loves life...  not enough to wear a helmet and ride sensibly though.....been riding scooters in Thailand since 1987 and if I had a dollar for every rider I have seen doing stupid things.....well you know the rest. Hope he gets through this and learns.

He is an investment banker so prollly flush with cash !!

Karma is a bitch.

If you can't handle a bike: Stay off it. I can't feel sorry for him.

Looks more like a Merchant Banker to me.

Family is desperately trying to raise funds to pay for his rising medical costs...

Again.

The man was foolish, but it's still a very sad story.

Don't understand the need to mention that he was 'super fit'
