Thai returnee tests positive after 14-day state quarantine

The first Covid-19 case outside the state quarantine area was found on Wednesday (August 19) – the 86th day for Thailand without a domestic case.

 

The Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital said a Thai returnee from Dubai, who spent 14 days in state quarantine before being released, returned with symptoms on Wednesday.

 

He is currently being treated at Ramathibodi Chakri Naruebodindra Hospital.

Oh no, you can not mean...well then here we go.....sounds suspicious to me.  Me thinks he was infected by an asymptomatic individual outside and in the real living part of Thailand, not the bubble.  

Interesting, he returned to hospital today (Wednesday 19th August, 2020), but no mention of the date he was 'released' from quarantine into the general population.

 

I wonder why that is?

Not sure how they can still say that today is the 86th day without a domestic case if he tested positive after having  been released from quarantine and been out in the public.  However, I am awaiting a retraction of the story and for it to just disappear.

Yes, that might provide the clue to where he contracted the virus. Without that information it's impossible to say what happened. He might even have picked it up in the quarantine camp, in which case we might never get the full story.

Coincidence that this story has broken on the same day that the Government are seeking to extend emergency powers? .....

2. Received her first test on 5 June. Little traces of virus dna found. Result inconclusive.

3. Second test on 13 June. Result negative.

4. Released from the quarantine and told to self quarantine at home for another 30 days.

5. Wanted to travel abroad, so she went to Rama for a covid test. Dr. found a small amount of dna traces from her throat and she tested positive for antibody.

6. The medical team concluded that she caught it while in UAE and already recovered before she was released.

That seems a bit harsh, 30 days of home isolation on top of the 14 days quarantine already 'served'

 

I 'heard' that the viral remnants which remain take some time to clear from the body and the half life on them is as long as 3 weeks, suggesting that they can stick around for months after an infection, even if there were no or very little symptoms.

 

It was explained to me that this is why so many people are now testing positive in the EU yet the hospital admission rate remains low in most places - prior mild or asymptomatic infections being picked up during the massively increased PCR contact tracing tests...

Either quarantine is contaminated or its all been an expensive waste of time ????

Your using a story of one of the two women who have now also tested positive but are Asymptomatic.  The post is regarding a male who exhibited symptoms and was ill so he returned to the hospital and now has Covid-19 and is being treated for it.  Read the other reports as well.

Why are you reffering to the infected person as a female when the OP is talking about a male?

It arrived on 2 June and tested positive in August, it sounds like he got infected in the last two weeks and did not arrive with the virus. 
For mild cases, it takes 3 to 4 weeks to fully recover.. So anyone arriving from overseas since April and turns out positive later must mean they contracted it outside Thailand

we definately need emergency powers extended after this,no more protests as its out there. close down everything,bars restaurants trains planes and parks.call beijing and nz .surround everybody with everything weve got and let em have it PM. commie long haired scum bags lock and load theyve got it comin

Tests are not 100% accurate.

Both these reports talk about a man who did NOT show any symptoms.  Lots of confusion in the reporting.

Yes. I wrote on a thread yesterday that with the student protests picking up and the state of emergency needing to be updated don't be surprised if  a mysterious care of the Chinese flu emerges. And there we go bang on target 

The story regarding the Male Thai testing positive and being treated at the hospital is only in a few papers, not in the paper we can not link to.  Wonder if its being scrubbed. Another story before it gets scrubbed out or labeled as fake news.

If you do some research it is known that up to 50% of tests can be false positive.

Could he have gotten it mid-way thru his quarntine right inside the Quarntine Hotel?????

You talk about a she while in the story above they talk about a he so ???

Could be they were quarantined for the 14 days, but what happened while in quarantine?

Are they all automatically tested, or do they wait to see if symptoms show up before doing a test?

If no symptoms manifest in quarantine are the allowed out with no test ever being done?

 

 And yes, a person found to be positive in the public area means now the Thai record is gone... or will they come up with some excuse to keep it going?

Makes you wonder all those who have been in Quarantine

go home to their Provinces can it reoccur again until they report to a hospital we will never know 

 

If the "suspect" arrived into quarantine on 2nd June then they would have left quarantine on 16th June. That means an infected person has been wandering around Thailand for over 2 months - a country with no cases of covid19. The only reason the covid19 was discovered was that this person took a covid19 test so they could work overseas.  Less than 1% of Thailand's population has been tested. This must throw doubt on the number of infections in Thailand. 

"breaking news: one person has covid".

 

The usa and many other countries might wish they have a headline like that...
