Foodpanda has launched a manhunt for a user who allegedly ordered close to 100 cups of coffee, waffles and noodles for delivery at random addresses in Phuket province.

A post in Phuket People’s Voice Facebook page said Foodpanda user Ntpp Tian had complained on Sunday (August 23) that there had been chaos in her neighbourhood when several deliverymen showed up to hand over the so-called orders.

The residents were quite confused by the deliveries as they had not ordered anything, and the deliverymen had to hand the food over for free.

Ntpp Tian said she alone had to accept 13 cups of coffee and called on the person who had placed these orders to stop and think about the trouble he had caused.

The company is planning to take legal action against a user named Jettarin Nutbanpa, who cannot be contacted.

On the upside, she was able to run to the company HQ in Bangkok in 37 minutes.

It's crazy that the app / website allows this to happen. If it required payment by credit card / internet banking or some other means before the order was confirmed then this would never happen. Allowing food to be delivered to someone who promises to pay later seems like a flawed system.

I wouldn't call such activity a prank. It's criminal fraud.

I once called out a character in my office for "pranks" such as putting peoples lunches in the freezer and emptying a whole packet of sugar into the coffee urn. He was also suspected, unproven, of putting insect powder in there. He was a senior officer from an associated agency and I was the only one game enough to confront him.

I was rewarded by getting unordered taxis for the airport arriving at my place at 3am, and several trucks arriving with sand and blue metal deliveries.

Maybe in the same manhunt they should be hunting for the people in charge of foodpanda for charging 30% to restaurants for their service . Thats almost half of the price a customer pays and the restaurant has to pay their staff , gas , electric and ingrediënts so it's like the restaurants are working for foodpanda not the other way aroumd like it should be . They should be promoting and increasing the restaurants merchandise and income but they are only filling their own pockets .

Personally, I agree. But most Thais are paying by cash, and delivery companies don't want to lose this market.

was the food not prepaid with credit card ?

if the driver has to pay, why give it out for free and not eat him/herself ?

Okay, a prank is a prank - but they really need to find and punish the person responsible for all the terrible adverts that keep popping up on most TV channels these days.

I thought if this happens the drivers end up paying ? There was a guy who ordered pizza a few months ago and he decided they were taking to long so ordered from somewhere else . When the first order arrived he refused it and the delivery guy had to pay almost 2000bht or something I’m sure ????

At least the news reporter didn't jump to conclusions and assume it was only a man capable of this.
