A teacher in Sing Buri was suspended on Friday over allegations he sexually abused a schoolgirl in his charge. If an investigation finds him guilty, he will be dismissed from the teaching profession on September 28, said the Sing Buri Provincial Education Office.

Chana Summat, director of the Protection and Rescue Centre for Sexually-Harassed Students, said his organisation will take about a week to investigate the case.

“After finding the truth, we dismiss erring teachers from public education and set up a committee to investigate their actions,” he explained.

Since the centre was established in March, every case it had investigated had resulted in the accused teacher being found guilty and having their teaching licence cancelled, he added.

The importance of combating sexual harassment in schools has been enshrined in Education Ministry policies, Chana pointed out.

People can complain about cases of sexual harassment in education by calling the 1579 hotline around the clock or via the website www.nataphol.com, launched last week by Education Minister Natapol Teepsuwan.

Of course….a committee....

A collection of inept people who individually ‘cannot’…assembled to form an inept group that collectively ‘cannot’.

But a committee ensures that no one has to take any responsibility for anything.

The Thai government's version of....'herd immunity'.

Are the police not involved at any point?

Is there money involved ?

I think they have to be " ordered " to investigate cases , maybe , though I could be wrong ,

They will get involved if the Teacher is found guilty and the girl's Mother makes a report to the Police.

That's all ????

They just lose their jobs in "public" education?

They're free to carry on this behavior?

they're taking into an account that maybe one day themselves or relatives who would be found in the same predicaments will only be dismissed from the job and not do jail time so covering their ar**es is planning for the future...

Mrs best mate from years back had a teacher husband, he got 20 years about 5 years ago for raping 2 girls in his School upcountry. Claimed he was set up to get rid of him, not very convincing. So they do sometimes end up inside, but too often you never here any more about these perverts.

They certainly don't like publicity.

Ten years ago, a foreigner got caught in a toilet with a P. 5 girl.

He only got dismissed, neither the police nor the parents were informed.

The same man then could open an orphanage in the same city.

   All under a religious cover.

At long last the guilty are being punished when caught... however the message that it should not have happened is still in it infancy.

It is not unheard of that sometimes the abuse is instigated by pupils seeking enhancements in their schooling.....:whistling:

say what now ... you accusing underage school children for instigating ???

what about the adult not accepting exchanges like that as they are supposed to have "morals"

is there no buddist saying:  thou shall not f. your students in your care ?

I have not mentioned anything about underage school children....I,m talking about university students offering sexual favours for enhancements in their school grades....it does..and often...happen everywhere

Well I hope there is a fair outcome in this case. In one close to me there was no apology from the teacher, the principal or deputy had no contact with the parents and the teacher is still at the school.

So if you don't like your teacher, just call the 1579 hotline. could work.

That is no excuse whatsoever for the teacher engaging in a sexual relationship with a pupil. Young girls often 'flirt' with older men that they consider powerful and attractive it is part of their growing up effectively practicing for the future. It is the job of an adult to recognise this and not pursue it any further. Being an Adult especially in teaching has responsibilities. Sting wrote a song about it based on his experiences as a teacher "Don't stand so close to me"

I agree it can be, especially in England, where there is often one law for men and another for women in the workplace. but this is about a teacher and a child the teacher is there not just to teach but to protect in absence of the parents. The teacher concerned is a childish selfish fool with no sense of responsibility and a total lack of conscience
