Immigration Police Home Visits

Featured Replies

As a PR holder, I am not involved with extensions, but have today been asked by a friend whether I am aware of the rules re home visits from Immigration.

He has told me that in the past he was visited once a year by Immigration and had a photo taken with his wife.. More recently these visits became monthly, and are now weekly!!!!!!!!

Does anyone have any knowledge of this. reasons why etc?

  • They fancy his missis?

  • He should just offer them a room where they can stay, this avoids all the unnecessary commuting from the office.

  • Not many foreigners left, so they need to justify their jobs by visiting the remaining ones more often. It's that or job cuts.

Never experienced monthly or weekly visits, but when I apply for my extension of visa based on marriage an immigration officer visits us at our home and takes pictures of us around the house and out front with us pointing at the house number sign. This is in spite of the fact that I submitted the same photos with my extension application. This all

started about three years back.

don't know about PR holders but on an extension (marriage) they've come to my place. Considering all the talk on  TVF about bribing this and that office I'm surprised they're not around every 3 months..

There's something very wrong here, did your friend get his yearly extension already and the visits continue or are they still deciding whether to issue the yearly extension?

It sounds to me like they think he's lying and they want to catch him out but I guess that depends on whether he has the extension already.

In 14 years I  have only been visited one time 3 years ago. The boss man asked me if I wished to have lunch with them I bet at my costs.  My wife piped up sorry we have just eaten they never came back.

Tell him to go on holiday or stay somewhere else if they are coming on the same day every week.

Are these visits in the morning or afternoon or weekends ?

I will be getting my first very soon and need time to train up our 4 dogs to go for anything wearing a light brown uniform.

Your answers so far all seem to suggest there is no  official reason for all these visits.

The frequency of these visits seems very strange . I will wager that no other foreigner gets such attention, usually once every 2 or 3 years or once a year at most , some have never had a home visit.

Does his wife make them an exceedingly good somtam ? ,does he ply them with Hong Thong ?, has someone fitted an “ all immigration officers welcome “ sign to his garden gate without his knowledge ?.

Maybe he should just ask them why ??

Is one of them her brother ? only joking

just close the gate and lock it.

ignore them and film it on his mobile phone.

it will stop.

STOP giving them tea money every time they visit!

During the day is no real proof of anything they will soon come in the middle of the night ????

I had my first visit this year and I've done 12 marriage extensions.

All you do is tell them to make an appointment, then give them one for about three weeks on, then repeat and repeat. You may be living in their country, but you are still a human being and should expect to be treated like one, and not a criminal.

and don't forget to charge them room and board.

There isn't, they are just trying to justify their existance.

Like soi dogs if you feed them they will return.

Something very wrong if what you describe is actually happening. More to this than is being disclosed is my bet.

Although my wife and I have our registered address as her home village, we never 'live' there as we travel around either...... hotels or renting..........I take it this is allowed.... it is the hotel or landlord's responsibility to complete a TM30????

7 years on a retirement visa I have had 1 immigration visit.

my best guess is that he pays them something every time they come?

just stop giving them anything and they won't come back

Tell them it's a big problem getting your pension for the next 4 months because of Covid in the offices back home.

The only visit I ever had was for the very first extension and never had another one even for the renewals.

Something doesn't sound right about this story.

You had better retrain them as Immigration don’t wear the light brown uniform.

While I am the same as you in the number of visits, our experience is no guide to someone else’s.
