Currently anyone entering Thailand needs to have insurance which offers coverage up to 100,000 THB.   Do you think that once the Covid situation has improved Thailand should continue to require foreign nationals visiting or residing in Thailand to have insurance?

So many of you got off topic. Should the insurance requirement for foreigners be continued? Yes until the vaccine is available. If a foreigner wishing to enter Thailand can show proof of Covid vaccination then there should be no further insurance requirement or quarantine. If no proof of vaccination then insurance should be mandatory for those people, but it should not be just from the nominated/approved Thai insurers.

I think it's not unreasonable to require health/travel insurance coverage from all foreign visitors.

Allowing people to self-insure is risky, as only few foreign visitors would be able to cover the cost of a major unforeseen medical emergency, if it came to that. It's not just a question of having the money, but also of being able to access it from abroad (and, worst case scenario, comatose). I don't see why Thailand or any other country would want that risk. The EU's Schengen countries have been asking for medical coverage since a long time.

No need the insurance.

for the tourist, -- they have their own insurance and covers a percentage in thailand.

For the retiree, they are covered by their own country.. anything happened in Thailand, they must pay for it and reimbursed at 80% or they have enough money to pay for their medical.

you do not need to buy insurance to visit  thailand or live in thailand.

The travelling insurance is a rip off. it does not cover well.

the main reason is the cost of medical in the Eu are quite high Coming from a 3rd world county like thailand, where the  cost of living is low , you need insurance to go and visit the EU. EU knows that most thai people never buy health insurance   .Eu never asked the American travelling to England for proof of insurance. to visit

Yes. Covid19 or not, any traveller should be equipped with travel insurance covering medical emergencies and other possible accidents.

The insurance must be reasonably priced.

The last sentence destroys the point you were trying to make.

Family members of EU nationals are not required to have insurance, so if you want to make a comparison, then family members of a Thai national would not require insurance.
