Popular Post rooster59
Thailand to launch first moon mission By THE NATION Thailand will build a spacecraft within seven years with a budget of around Bt3 billion, according to the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation. Minister Anek Laothamatas announced on Thursday that Thailand will produce high-tech satellites in four years, before advancing to build a spaceship with a weight of 300 kilograms for a mission to the moon. The ship will be powered by a xenon ion thruster, the same propulsion method used by Nasa for interplanetary space missions. The spacecraft will travel at 11 kilometres per hour to the moon, before slowing to enter lunar orbit at 2kph. Thailand’s first lunar mission will be officially announced in January, Anek said. Popular Post ThailandRyan
The priorities of this Government seem to be backwards. Hopefully all of the money they use will have been donated by the very rich private citizens, as well as the top power brokers in the Government for the seats they will buy on the space craft. As NASA found out its name meant Needs Another Seven Astronauts many many years ago, Thailands space agency should be named TANGSA, or The All or Nothing Government Space Agency. 10 1

Popular Post Captain_Bob
"The spacecraft will travel at 11 kilometres per hour to the moon" Earth to moon distance approximately 384,400 km. Do the math, that's about 35,000 hours or 1,458 days or 4 years *one way*. Hope they have room for all that sticky rice and naam plao. What a fa*rking joke, a country which can't even keep millions of drunks off the roads or supply reliable electricity and internet to all its citizens proposes to pull off this pie-in-the-sky hi-tech publicity stunt. 555 very funny ???? 21 2

Space fuel burns quicker and is expensive as well, rocket boosters are not cheap, unless they will be strapping the propane cooking tanks to the rocket, and lighting them at the same time....lol 2
Popular Post Pilotman
Priceless. I love all these Asian Space programmes, Billions spent while the poor stay poor, and largely uneducated, and the rich get richer, but are still uneducated. If their military flying is anything to go by, they will miss the Moon by miles. 12 1
Popular Post Boomer6969
Hours and seconds "same same" in Thailand 11km/s is the speed required to leave earth orbit. Dumb and Dumber going to the Moon. 6
Popular Post KhunKenAP
3 Billion baht for a moon mission. lol. Money will be all spent on graft and corruption before the craft is even designed. How stupid is the government??? They only have enough money to buy COVID vaccine for half the Thai population. Can the UN send in forces???? 6 1
Popular Post Pilotman
11kph, in orbit at 2kph?? So this idea wasn't put together by a Physicist then, well, maybe a Thai educated one? They do know what 'being in orbit' actually means do they? They need to check up in Google before they go any further. Edited December 26, 2020 by Pilotman 1

Popular Post Mango Bob
You have money to go to the moon. But you do not have enough money to buy the virus vaccine for all the people. Unless you plan to find the vaccine on the moon. 4

I can't remember the last time in the last 2 years, when my mains electricity has gone off for more than a few minutes and my internet is cheaper, faster and more reliable than BT or Virgin in the UK ever was. Admittedly, we live in the new EEC area, so maybe that accounts for it and I know that Nationwide, they are not so fortunate. Either way, a moon shot project is idiotic.
