Popular Post BritManToo Posted January 8, 2021 Popular Post Posted January 8, 2021 I've been out and bought, 45Kg of Jasmine rice, cheese, spaghetti, flour, 2 bottles of Gin, and a bottle of Rum. So that's emergency food for 3 months, and booze for a month. How about you? Am I panic buying, or are these reasonable precautions? 6 3 5
Popular Post CharlieH Posted January 8, 2021 Popular Post Posted January 8, 2021 You missed the toilet roll ! 5555 The other item I stocked up on last time was bottled water. Dont think things are going that way just yet are they ? 4 2
Popular Post Crossy Posted January 8, 2021 Popular Post Posted January 8, 2021 No loo roll?? Madam keeps enough rice for the next century, freezer well stocked (will be topped up at Makro tomorrow). We won't starve. Only got beer for a week though, have to re-stock tomorrow too. 7 1 "I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

My other kids university sent a letter to all the 'work experience' sites saying expect to lose all your free staff in the next few days. if that isn't 'going that way', I don't know what is. I did buy a 36 pack of toilet rolls while I was in Makro. 2 1

Popular Post 4MyEgo Posted January 8, 2021 Popular Post Posted January 8, 2021 We did our top up shopping last week, you see back in March/April we stocked up for 3 months, and after that we continued doing our usual shopping as we went along to keep the stock for 3 months there. Only thing I didn't see coming last time was the booze ban, so this time I grabbed a couple of boxes of beer which I won't open unless they lock us down, but to be honest, I can't see them doing that unless someone higher authorises it, the PM is just a puppet in my opinion who wants to get out of his position, but can't, well until the next election, might be wrong though. 4

Popular Post 1FinickyOne Posted January 8, 2021 Popular Post Posted January 8, 2021 during past Q. period, there were no particular shortages that effected us.. I expect it to be the same this time.. if not, we can eat the grass clippings from the yard... I did not see any panic buying... or empty shelves... maybe I should pick up some more coffee... 4
Popular Post Bangkokhatter Posted January 8, 2021 Popular Post Posted January 8, 2021 Panic buying for what reason ? There was no shortage of anything last time. Only thing i will buy extra is beer and some whiskey as the powers that be have some kind of puritanical hatred towards those that enjoy a beer and no doubt will be banning it again soon. 14 1
ChipButty Posted January 8, 2021 Posted January 8, 2021 We are well stocked up on most things, loads of rice and pasta 2 freezers full of food just need to get a couple of cases of beers, the last time I just about lasted with the beers it was available for double the price I never bought any from them,

LomSak27 Posted January 8, 2021 Posted January 8, 2021 As a spirit drinker, I have steadily put in a supply since well before Christmas. If it does crank up, I will finish with sangsom. Always available, but, uuuu-gh. Still I picked up my bar at Index living mall on Tuesday, chuffed at that. A bar table, for the view-rec room. Boozing, for sure, but will put in a stylish drip coffee maker from Hillkoff at one end. It's where I laptop at, like now. Pasta, rice, frozen chicken, duck and shrimp, sure. Life goes on. I'll buy more disinfectant, that for when the G's sister shows up. More to scare her away. Lockdown what lockdown? This is everyday living. 2

tonray Posted January 8, 2021 Posted January 8, 2021 The only panic buying I ever do is when I see egfruit at some local market....so hard to find in Bangkok area...I usually buy up most of the inventory. Addicted to it...great for smoothies
Popular Post TSF Posted January 8, 2021 Popular Post Posted January 8, 2021 I've stocked up on beer, I expect that to be banned soon, don't see any point in stocking up on food, we did that last time and it was totally unnecessary, especially for us as we live in a small rural community which is pretty well self sufficient. There are local markets all around and farmers/growers sell their produce, We do shop in the nearby Tesco but if it shut down it wouldn't really matter. 2 1

Popular Post TSF Posted January 8, 2021 Popular Post Posted January 8, 2021 Hard to believe there are long term expats here who still use bog roll. I gave up on using the dreadful stuff about a month after I first arrived in Thailand and got into the habit of using water. I use bog roll today to blow my nose. 5 1

Apart from not being able to go into town for a beer in the evening there is no change to life here in the sticks whatsoever for me 2

I don't use it much, but the women in the house all use it instead of panty pads. ...... and like CharlieH says, and for kitchen tissue. Probably too much information. 1

HAPPYNUFF Posted January 8, 2021 Posted January 8, 2021 Im just off to buy my gin and a carton of that stuff called beer in this country. I usually stay around the house, got enought things to do to keep me busy, the wife, of course, being a typical Thai, has to go the marketys at least twice a day. I spray her with Dettol when she comes home.. Told her I am considering putting the garden hose over her as well. 1 1
