VIDEO: Car crushed as lorry slides backwards down hill in Songkhla

An extraordinary video from the south of Thailand showed dash cam footage of a driver who had pulled over to have a phone conversation.

He was lucky he did for at that moment a six wheel truck carrying ice (frozen water) comes sliding backwards down the hill and a car overtaking slams into the back of it.

As locals come to help,  the man on the phone explains his situation to the person on the other end of the line.

It might be translated as "OMG that was close!"

Thai Rath said this appeared on a site online but they did not report on what happened to the driver of the car that went into the truck.

It seemed to be serious as the area where the driver would be sitting took the full impact.

The incident happened on a hill in the Khao Khor Hong area of Songkhla province.

Thailand must be the only country in the world where the ice has to be explained as frozen water.

Too many ice trucks around?

Why in the video, do they have to show it over & over again, as they do on TV News? Twice would be sufficient to take things into the brain.

They like this kind of thing!

Brake failure.....in reverse, driver must have missed his gear

going up the hill, but looks like he never tried to apply them,

no brake lights showing.

If the dashcam car hadn't slowed, pulled over and stopped on the narrow hard shoulder ON A BLIND CURVE to chat of the phone, the black car would easily have made it past the rolling lorry.

Interesting observation, not to mention the sun was right in the drivers face as well IMO.

Looks like one either the passenger or the driver got out and were looking to get others, maybe a child out of the back. Hope all are ok, as for the truck driver, cancel his licence and apply a heavy fine and while were at it fine the car that stopped at the narrow shoulder as you mentioned.

The most shocking part ''a driver who had pulled over to have a phone conversation.''

UP tomorrow : The Farang who was stopped off his motorbike at the side of the road is currently being hunted for lorry driver to file law suit.
