BANGKOK (NNT) - The Prime Minister has used popular social media application TikTok to bid a happy Chinese New Year to all Thais of Chinese heritage, posting the phrase “Xin Jia Yu Yi Xin Ni Huad Xai".

 

Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-ocha used the Thai Ku Fah TikTok account to address Thais of Chinese descent, wrote “On the occasion of Chinese New Year, I bid all the holy spirits bless our Chinese brothers and sisters and Thais of Chinese heritage, that you are healthy of body and mind, fortunate and prosperous Xin Jia Yu Yi Xin Ni Huad Xai #Prime MinisterPrayutBlessings #CNY 2021 #ThaiKuFah”.

 

The video clip featured a traditional Chinese song as background music and stickers depicting traditional lamps with the Chinese character for “fortune” displayed.

The post was the first ever by the PM using TikTok. The application was suggested to the premier by his spokespersons team as a more direct way of communicating with the public. TikTok is a popular and widely used social media application.
