Popular Post Laughing Gravy
Typical childish reaction from the hotel and often Thai owners response to criticism. Lets sue them. Ridiculous but you have as much chance of changing this 'face saving' culture as getting rid of corruption. It ain't going to happen. Hopefully the hotels name will stay in the news and peoples minds for a long time, like that of Koh Chang and people will just not go there.

But no. They've got to exert their birth-right to enforce 18th century laws, and lord over a commoner who dared to tell the truth. Now millions of people around the world are now aware of this dodgy hotel, and Thailand's odd defamation laws. Not particularly business savvy.

Yes, especially after the same happened just a few months ago to the hotel at Koh Chang. I guess when a Thai "loses face" he just stops thinking rationally. I wonder if police has already thrown the Thai guy who complained now into jail. They were very fast to arrest the foreigner who complained about the hotel at Koh Chang.

Popular Post KhaoYai
Whether anything comes of this or not, there are legal implications here that Thailand is going to have to address at some point. Thailand's infamous Defamation Laws have an aspect that conflicts with the very notion of what any reasonable person would consider as right and proper. Much the same as in this case, I could allege (publicly) that the hotel room I stayed in was dirty and a hazard to health. I could provide photos as evidence, much the same as in the OP. To make a claim against me for defamation under Thai law, all the hotel would need to do is show that my claims had caused them loss or distress. The fact that my claims were true would not offer any protection because in Thai law 'The truth is no defence'. I don't know of any hotel booking site that doesn't offer and encourage its customers to write reviews about the hotels they've stayed at, many of us rely on those reviews when making our own choices - that's the whole point of them. The advent of social media gives people an additional platform on which to comment on their exepriences whilst on holiday. What's wrong with that? If a hotel doesn't want adverse publicity because its rooms aren't up to standard, it should get its act together. The booking sites offer the hotel the opportunity to make their own comments on a review. Its taken a while but Thai hotels have finally woken up to the fact that if they aren't on the popular booking sites, they're not going anywhere - its the way the majority of people book a room now. However, this is not the first case where a Thai hotel has threatened litigation for defamation. They seem to want their cake and eat it - they want the bookings but they don't want to comply with the way the booking sites opertate. The legal concept of the truth being no defence just doesn't stack up (in the rational world) and these hotel cases could be the reason that sooner or later Thailand is going to have to reform this absurd law. There are other countries where similar concepts apply but they are fudamentally different. For example, in certain circumatances, the truth may not be a defence in US libel cases if the libelous statement was made maliciously. These fleas bag places fee on the poor Thais who are just happy to be able to have a roof over their heads the government is the problem endorsing such conditions that looks worse than the virus itself. The places couldn't make it in the real world so it uses the defamation law which seem to have work well Kho Chiang but the difference here there are photos.

A hotel in Chonburi has launched legal action after a man posted a negative review from his own Facebook profile. The Thai man had been staying at the hotel, which Thaivisa has chosen not to name, while undergoing mandatory quarantine after returning to Thailand from San Francisco last month. The man, who made the post on Feb 15, said he decided to stay at the state quarantine facility because it was free and while he didn’t expect much in the way of luxury, he regretted his decision to stay there. He described the stay as “probably the most terrible 14 days of my life” and said it wasn’t quarantine but more “like being imprisoned”. According to the man’s post on Facebook, the non existent Wi-Fi and broken TV sounded like the least of his complaints. The man alleged that there was fungus growing on his bed and a stench that simply would not go away, despite him changing rooms on three separate occasions. He said all the rooms he stayed in had problems with mosquitoes and cockroaches and he even had to pay out of his own pocket for spray to have them killed. He also said there were problems with the food and shared a photo of what appeared to be the leg of a cockroach he found in one of the meals. The man shared a total of 46 photos and videos in his Facebook post, documenting the disgusting conditions he said he had to endure during his 14 day quarantine. The post went viral and at the time of publishing had been shared 29,000 times. Lots of other people commenting on the post said they had experienced similar conditions while staying at the hotel. The hotel has since issued a statement saying it has begun legal action citing Thailand’s strict defamation laws. [The hotel] wants to notify all related agencies to stop any kind of actions that will defame [the hotel] and violate the law,” the statement said. “If not, we will need to take maximum legal action.” According to Thai media, the hotel has since announced it will be closed for the next three months. Whether the hotel’s owners will press ahead with their threats of legal action remains to be seen. -- © Copyright Thai Visa News 2021-02-17 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates Not to far off the mark just look at the MATTRESS i would take them to court if true and get the Media from everywhere to show the photos

Popular Post spidermike007
The defamation laws were written by sold out cowards, to protect rotten players from reprisals, due to bad service, faulty products and bad business. They have no place in today's world. They represent a heinous over reach of toxic power. Thailand deserves whatever comes its way, in regard to negative PR, as a result of this. Those insane and cowardly defamation laws have been around way too long. They were written and passed by compromised politicians, for men who sell inferior products, offer inferior services, and steal alot of money. And do not intend to be answerable to anyone. Perhaps some of that will change. For those of us who have been here a awhile, we know that positive change only happens here through utter embarrassment, humiliation, and a loss of face. It never happens because it is the right thing to do, or due to fairness or equity. So, it must be thrust upon them, such as in this incident. The lack of vision prevents them from seeing it coming. Egg on the face can be a cure for many diseases and weaknesses. 8
