Stop quarantine from June! ATTA call to Thai government could make the country 500 billion from 8 million tourists

The Thai government is being urged to end quarantine from June.

And it could earn the country 500 billion baht if they take the bold step, said the association of Thai Travel Agents or ATTA.

Chief of ATTA Wichit Prakopkosol told The Bangkok Insight that a letter was being prepared for the tourism ministry, TAT(Tourism Authority of Thailand) and the CCSA Covid authority to consider the proposal.

Low risk partner countries should be piloted first from June suggested Wichit.

He said that the move could result in 8 million tourists visiting.

The timeframe was not mentioned in the BBN article though it appeared to refer to 2021.

Meanwhile the media reported that tourism minister Pipat Ratchakitprakan was concentrating his efforts in promoting the so-called Area Quarantine on beachfront resorts in Phuket, Krabi and Phangnga in the south of Thailand.

It was felt that this could help recoup a large slice of lost tourism revenue.

Sorry to disappoint, but not before the very end of this year. And this is only the outlook for two countries currently leading the vaccination onslaught.

Ok so they can make money. We all know that.

Now, what are the costs if  Thailand shows the same experience of infections as seen in Target tourist countries of Russia, China, EU?  Thailand does not have medical resources to handle 1500 ICU cases or hospital facilities to care for 2500+ infected requiring isolation beds. What is cost to Thailand when  infections tear through country and no one  wants to go to Thailand or the country is quarantined?

Irrelevant if they let people in if upon returning to their own country they have to quarantine

October, April, June??? OMG, these people are SO precise!

My opinion, if you've had 2 vaccines you should be above to travel freely. I cannot imagine Thailand's clogged up incoming immigration lines dealing with checking 40 million covid vaccination details.

in such a situation cancellation of all ladyboy op's and general nose/boob jobs should free up substantial medical resources.

I have the perfect place for that letter, along with all the other ones.

If only the responsible ministers have had a plan to get Thailands population vaccinated as soon as possible, they could have avoided the huge losses now to come.
