100g of 85% dark chocolate only 69 baht in Big C extra, thought that a bargain when you look at other places.

They used to sell 2 x 200g bars of Casino Noir chocolate for about 139 baht. Not sure if they are still that price.

I do not see any price increase, but it's sad if true, as compared to the krap UK or US products, French food is a lot better, especially cheese and frozen products.

Shipping fees sharply increased as of late. Is it possible that increased costs or maybe lower quantities (due to lack of foreigners in Thailand) pushing shipping costs even higher, are affecting the prices? Just speculating, I'm not in the know.

That said, it was always Central Food Hall or Villa Market for me when searching for imported stuff. Not BigC.

I am somewhat impressed with Central food hall.  I got a 6 pack of 490 ml Heineken cans for 299thb, yesterday.  Perhaps the were clearing out the holiday packaging.. They were born mid October.. Tasted great, and still about six months fresher than what some of the bars are selling.  Four packs are 228 or 57 each.. Also a better price, and cases of 12 for 679..lowest I have seen.

Get real.

Forget Westernized supermarkets, go to your local fresh market.

We eat fresh meat, fresh veg, fresh fruit everyday and average 117 baht per day for 3 of us.

What's the cheese like at the local market?

Yes they are usually just north of 60 baht each... so good deal, although close to the 6 month mark and likely why on special.

On several occasions, I have put down the holiday packaging, when I saw the regular packaging.. and they were even older.  The cans seem to age much better.  The light kills the bottles.  The selling of old beer in Patts is problematic to say the least.  In the US, Heineken doesn't put the born date, just a best before date one year after manufacture.  There are some born mid 2-2021 out there if you hunt.   Another problem is bars letting them freeze and thaw, and that kills them quicker than the heat and sun, but I suppose they are congratulating themselves for ending the warm beer complaints.

An ex French girlfriend used to stick Brie and Camembert on a plate outside on the window sill in the morning in the height of summer and come back and eat them in the evening.........lush.................

Of course, Cambembert must be eaten when "smelling very strong " ; I love it this way

I don't eat Camember in Thailand, I am sure I would be desapointed , here no French cheese like in France ( you know " pélardon" ? goat cheese from south of France ? )

Casino is <deleted>, and you guys are paying 3x the original price for inferior products

that's what it was too hard to live in Thailand, the expensive crappy imports and the bad overpriced wines ????

back to Europe, great food, great price, and even great weather ????

Most Pattaya residents don't keep cows I have found and hence shop at places like BigC-X.

I just paid 1 Euro per 100g for Casino Noir. Is it 33 cents in Europe? Last time i bought "good" chocolate in Belgium it was frigging expensive.

If some unfortunate person is stuck being a resident of Pattaya, cheese is the least of life's problems lol

I have been thinking the same. but then I went to Hooters Patts, entire menu half price.  Was perfect, fish and chips.  Would take my mom there, without hesitation.

Really, for some reason I thought they were closed. Darn, I like good Fish and Chips and at half price, that  is the right level....

Part of it  (if the UK is supplying) is the 12.5 % increase in the £ to baht.  I thought we were all jumping with joy at the prospect of it returning to 70 baht. Haven't checked the Euro but the price of imported 'goodies'  is 1 of the drawbacks of living here.

The difference is that the one you bought for 1 Euro isn't the same good chocolate as in Europe.

It is 51% cacao and I think about 30% sugars.

The same kind is cheaper than 1 Euro in Europe.

Sea Bass.. 150++.

It was a very tasty piece of white fish, that didn't taste fishy.  I am aware of the problem, though, and have heard plenty of debates on what was being called fish and chips here, by the mostly farang run restaurants.  They would get nailed to the wall for doing that in the US, where most of the locations are. Normal price is 299..and you are only getting about 180 grms of fish.

Prices french products raised +20% in Big C Extra...........

What.......even the White flags........????
