Pictures today shows irate residents of Hua Hin Soi 112 in the Thap Tai area pointing at something they DON'T want.

The authorities decided to spend 25,343,000 baht on a Rubber Fender Barrier in the middle of the road.

But the residents say that the plans will cause more accidents rather then stop them.

They want the work reversed and want their simple white line in the middle of the road back again.

They told Talk News Online who they went to for help that the barrier limits space on the road giving no leeway for left and right movements, there are no lights and it has caused accidents.

They don't want to see anymore.

They have the support of the municipal council and local leaders and have gained 400 signatures for a petition to the Department of Rural Roads.

But now everything has gone quiet and they turned to the media to raise awareness.

TNO reported that 210 day work began on the installation of the barrier in October and is due to finish near the end of next month.

The barrier is no protection and thus useless. On the other hand it takes away the option to use the other side of the road in case of emergeny e.g. when a car turns into 112 without regarding the trafic. Would the barriers be there before I would have a severe accident in the past.
