If you are retired, does it bother you that you will never be a Thai Permanent Resident?
Because it was heavy traffic and didn't fancy paying for a limousine to sit in it for hours. That's called being pragmatic. -

Scottish Ministers Weigh Controversial Cat Ban and Curfew to Protect Wildlife
The only way to avoid any problems regarding any species is keeping their numbers at a reasonable level, meaning no over population. This means spay and neuter unless you want more kittens, which most don't anyway. Cats are born killers, and they will kill even if well fed, and especially more so if left to roam unfed. In the house they are good for keeping vermin and insects down, but this means a cat littler box, which has problems. A cat does not belong on a leash, along with most dogs. If you have a yard that can contain them, that's good, but containing a cat is almost impossible. Spay and neuter is the only way, as more cats means more dead animals. -

Transferring money out of Thailand
I sent some money to the UK via Kbank's website yesterday, they only have a bank account so I had to use SWIFT. To complete the SWIFT transfer I had to check a box saying the funds were from "Working in Thailand". There was no way to get it to complete without checking the box. I called Kbank after to ask why, seeing as I am retired and don't work. A very nice sounding young woman, with near perfect English explained that if a Foreigner wants to send money out and they are not working here, then they should go into the bank. Apparently you need proof of where the funds are from and what you are sending the funds out for. Normally I use WISE (even for this recipient as I have her bank account linked to WISE), but for the past 4 days none of my cards have been working with WISE. WISE say there is no issue on their end, whereas Kbank (same girl) told me they've been having lots of reports from customers of cards being rejected in the last week. I asked if ticking the "working in Thailand" box would get me into trouble, ie expose me to tax and she said no, but at the moment, but it *could* later. A lot of hassle to send 50 quid to someone who only has a bank account. -

small business ideas in Isaan
You're a bit older than I am and wiser, I hope. So realistically what would be my options? Just moving to LOS? It's nice and all, but I make good money in the States. Will probably retire in Hungary or some other place in Central Europe. Thailand would be not my first choice tbh. My concern is she'll get bored in Isaan anyway, regardless of business or family. Should I forego all the bull<deleted> and whisk her out of the country? I live up north in the States. Don't think Thais can handle real winter.
