PHUKET: Attempts to deliver a luxury yacht from Phuket to Surat Thani, for eventual delivery to Koh Samui, never made it off the island last night as the boat on the back of a trailer failed to make it under a pedestrian bridge.

A Thalang traffic police officer on duty last night explained to The Phuket News that the truck driver had issues with four pedestrian bridges in total on Thepkrasattri Rd.

The officer, who asked not to be named, received his first call from the truck driver seeking assistance at about 8pm.

It is a boat, so maybe they could try to move it on the water in stead of the roads?

Yep. They could take the shortcut through the Kra Ismuth canal - oh wait, they haven't built it yet ????

It would be quicker to demolish the bridges and rebuilt them higher!

Sail it to Krabi Boat Lagoon and take it out of the water there. There is a 35 ton boat lift. The road from there to Donsak should be no problem. In Donsak at the dock put it back in the water and sail it to Samui.
Regardless, with a transport of this size you would expect the transport company to do a dry run checking for any obstacles and issues.

"The clearance of the pedestrian bridges is supposed to be five metres.

However, one bystander noted that repeated resurfacing of the road may have left the height clearance notices inaccurate."

Therein lies the problem.

Did they try taking air out of the tyres it might just have got under ive seen it done before .

I think they would face the same problems on the 401 or 4142.

Behave yourself making a comment like that, as that would require forward planning, remember where you are.????

That was mentioned in the linked story along with some extra photos.

Food comparison to how songkran planning was handled.

Ladies and Gentlemen, this is your captain speaking - "We are about to open the upper sun deck for your personal relaxation"!

At least he didn't drive through at speed, and no apparent "brake failure."

You would think the Thai road authority and trucking company would have had the route and detours all planned out...........lol just kidding it’s Thailand amassing Thailand lol

Get the top roof section of the boat removed buy professionals, then it would be plain sailing ????. Init

I had to deliver a very high factory cake mixing machine one time in the UK, all the rout was planned out, to avoid low bridges, all went well until, I drove through a small village, where they had put flag bunting out crisscrossing the High St. for some celebration or other,  looking in my mirrors,  their bunting was now flying atop the machine as I continued to drive. ????????
