NZ locked down on outside labour and extended visas for those seasonal workers already here. 

 

A labour shortage was created in the fruit industry which forced new Zealanders to work. 

 

Thailand came to the rescue with many older women pensioner's helping out, many complained of sore backs but man didn't they get in and work hard for some extra cash. 

Source my wife and her mates, we live amongst kiwifruit orchards.

Nobody forced NZ'ers to work.  The labor shortage from lack of cheap imported labor drove up wages to where they were willing to take those jobs.

 

Something to think about for anyone wondering if cheap imported labor drives down wages.

If it was not a big news story it would not have appeared in the papers and posted online. Its the people here that do the responding all stories are posted here if any its the people on this forum who don't respond to it. So in a way its us that make it a big news story. This isonly 2 pages. Look at how many pages for the non masked one. Who did that the Thais or us foreigners posting.

Exactly true. Must have been a smack in the mouth to the Thai government and the other unelected mouth pieces on this forum that the Cambodians and Laos governments both laid the blame fairly and squarely on the Thais sneaking over the border to either work in the casinos/entertainment complexes in the case of females but also to gamble in the case of wealthy Thais for the spread  of the latest variants there.

My next door neighbours 2 daughters used to wander in and out of our house and have done for years. My son did the same in their house.

The daughters are now 12 and 16 and my son is 17 this August.

 

When I was growing up as a small boy back in the UK I used to do the same.

 

In fact they both call me Dadda even though I am not.

That's not my point. It's the way you contrasted the  stories to imply that it's unfair. Data can always be viewed in different ways and implications drawn that are not legitimate. People tend to view data in ways that supports what they believe.

Maybe you did and maybe you didn't.

 

Maybe farang are discriminated against on a large scale, but maybe they aren't. There are strong opinions and advocates for both sides on TVF. They cannot both be right.
