Popular Post TallGuyJohninBKK
Spurred by the burst of 877 new prison cases, Saturday's 3,095 total new COVID cases reported by the government becomes Thailand's second largest daily new case total ever. The only larger total was Thursday's 4,887 tally, of which 2,835 was a previously unreported accumulation of 2,835 prison cases, and 2,052 general population cases. Without Saturday's added prison cases, the other 2,218 new general population COVID cases marked the third straight day of 2,000 plus case tallies, after three consecutive days of sub 2,000 case totals. However, Saturday's 17 new COVID deaths was Thailand's lowest number in six days, and followed four consecutive days of 30-plus daily death counts. Based on Saturday's new cases and the now 99,145 cumulative cases total, Thailand is destined tomorrow to pass the 100,000 total COVID cases milestone since the start of the pandemic in early 2020. For the latest day, total COVID hospitalizations rose markedly to 34,913 in part because of all the new prison cases. The share of total COVID patients hospitalized in critical condition rose slightly from 1,203 to 1,234. The share of those requiring ventilators to breathe also rose slightly from 408 to 415. Both figures are record levels for Thailand since the pandemic began. The chart below indicates Thailand reported 1,351 COVID patients released as recovered from various kinds of hospital facilities, a figure dwarfed by Saturday's total new case tally and the general population subtotal only. That means the total population of hospitalized COVID patients in Thailand has increased again, from 33,186 on Friday to 34,913 today. 3
Popular Post TallGuyJohninBKK
Charts below show the rolling seven-day averages of Thailand's daily COVID cases and COVID deaths since the start of April updated through May 13, which for the first time capture the burst of accumulated prison cases reported Thursday. The rolling seven-day average figures are a common measurement used by health official to judge how their coronavirus outbreaks are faring. The latest figures show the added prison cases from Thursday boosting Thailand's seven-day average of new cases to a record 2,426 level. Likewise, the recent spate of 30-plus daily death totals also has pushed Thailand's rolling seven-day COVID deaths average to a record 26. https://ourworldindata.org/coronavirus/country/thailand?country=~THA#what-is-the-daily-number-of-confirmed-cases 1

Popular Post dinsdale
This should take Thailand to 92 on the covid worldomter. 100,000+ infections tomorrow. This is all down to one person. The one who should have enforced a hard lockdown nation wide for 7-10 days after the Thong Lor outbreak raised it's ugly virus spreading head and allowing Songkran travel to proceed and tell the nation and the world "Whatever will be will be." Guess the "it's stabalising at 2000 a day" crowd may have to change to "it's stabalising at 3000 a day". Popular Post TallGuyJohninBKK
Southeast Asia Kept COVID-19 Under Control For Most of the Pandemic. Now It's Battling Worrying New Surges At Thammasat University Hospital, about 20 miles north of Bangkok, doctors are scrambling to treat COVID-19 patients streaming in. Nearby, extra beds have been crammed in to a student dormitory block, turning it into a field hospital that can accommodate an additional 470 patients. “We don’t have enough beds, we don’t have enough ventilators,” Anucha Apisarnthanarak, the chief of the infectious diseases division at the hospital, tells TIME. “This is only my hospital, but of course there are a lot more hospitals experiencing the same problem.” In Jan. 2020, Thailand became the first country outside of China to confirm a case of the disease that became known as COVID-19—but it successfully fought off the pandemic for most of the year, recording less than 5,000 cases in a population of 70 million by mid-December. Now the total has skyrocketed 18-fold to more than 90,000 cases as this onetime COVID success story battles a worrying new surge. Popular Post Swimfan
They now have over 36k in hospital. Field hospital and hosphotel or whatever it is called. There is no way this model will be sustainable if the number continues to rise. The overall cost and potential for significant numbers of medical personnel to become infected therefore potentially seriously affecting staffing levels and the systems ability to cope with critical cases. it’s a disaster waiting to happen. 14

TallGuyJohninBKK
Vaccinations update through yesterday: The chart below shows nearly 2.5 million total vaccine doses allocated for use thus far, with more than 2.2 million doses administered, including new vaccinations from yesterday reaching 93,688 doses, and then the subtotals by first and second dose shots. The results below mean Thailand has fully vaccinated about 1 percent of its 70 million population thus far, and has given first dose shots to about 2 percent of its population, with a long way to go to reach its 50 million fully vaccinated goal by the end of the year. The chart below shows the total vaccine doses allocated for use by the government thus far, including the breakdown of Sinovac versus AstraZeneca doses. https://www.facebook.com/thaimoph/posts/30890377071953 Edited May 15, 2021 by TallGuyJohninBKK 2

Prayut Chan-ocha is facing double challenges in handling COVID-19. First, how to get enough vaccines in time before the situation is too critical, and second, how to convince enough people that Sinovac is a good and adequately safe vaccine. Yes, Sinovac (known formally as CoronaVac) is the Chinese vaccine which has yet to have been approved by the World Health Organization! Like it or not, the Thai government by the end of this month will have in its possession six million doses of Sinovac vaccines. The biggest lot, AstraZeneca, projected at 61 million doses by the end of the year is currently reserved for those 60 and older only. 2

The British guy who was send to prison last week. He surely got a visit from his Embassy.
