How many burns do you have on your right calf from MC?

Featured Replies

I wear shorts around town. I got bit a few times on my raider 150 and like 3 times on my big bike. My latest just scabbed over.

Long, long ago I lost it on a bend (cow pooh) near the Royal Bath and West Showground and ended up in the ditch with my (left) leg gently sizzling on the exhaust of my XS-500. Still got that scar!

That's a bad one, mine come from swinging my leg over or duck walking it backwards.

Mine come from squeezing into a tight gap when parking my yamaha nouvo in a row of bikes on samui about 11 years ago, then subsequently standing too close to the hot pipe.

The scar lingered for a few years, but it's gone now.

I remember at the time, just about everyone seemed to have the same scar on their leg.

I imagine there's a lot more space these days with covid.

None. Always wear jeans, helmet , lightweight jacket ankle boots and  light gloves. More for sun protection than anything else.

none, one of the key features i look for on a shopper

is the layout of the exhaust system. you got a faulty build, get the good stuff.

...and i always used shorts and flip flops when i was driving

Makes going to the beach a little troublesome I suspect.

None. Always wear jeans, helmet and shoes - and t-shirt and no gloves.

But then again, I also wear jeans and t-shirt any other time. Shorts is something for the beach (or maybe the village up country).

Nearest beach 4 hours fast ride away.

I have a bicycle to get to the end of the soi for drinks. If wife comes along its the car so only use bike for trips of 15 k or more.

Already had 2 skin cancers cut out and apart from the expense just not worth the sunburn I'd get if in shorts and helmetless.

A Swede was killed leaving town last year. Shorts and no helmet. Inexperienced I'd guess as he came around a bend with his side stand down. This must have startled him into a reflex response and he drifted into the oncoming lane.

Result was head on with a saloon car. Head butted the windscreen and was killed.

Both vehicles only doing 40 and happened in an instant.

Tragic as had only been here a week with his wife waiting at home while he popped into town.

His was only a return journey of 15 k. Fairly short.

I figure it might be a hassle dressing up bit it can save something a lot worse.

I still have scars from bikes in Bali, from years ago. Back then (1970s) the only bike you could hire was a Yamaha DT 100.  They were made to brand people. I think there is a whole generation of Australians that carry the same scars.

Yes, it was a seriously stupid design, the pipe literally millimeters from the seat. I have 3-4 mates still have the scars, we used to call it Bali leg

Just one. Walking between bikes going into a 7/11. Jerry rigged bike with a car type muffler and no guard. Hardly touched the thing but it melted a good size spot.

But the exhaust pipe on this bike is on the right side, did you ride it backwards?

Applying  regularly  the  gel from  an ALOE VERA plant helps heal a fresh exhaust burn & reduces  the scar

No burns from my recently purchased  2  year old PXC   but   scars from scraping  my leg on the pointy rear footrests the Mrs does'nt put back into place

Good call, Did not notice the image is reversed.

The one that got me must have been a later (or possibly different)model, it was the tail pipe hanging out the the right hand rear..
