BANGKOK (NNT) - The Deputy Prime Minister has followed up on action against illegal fishing, reiterating the need to strictly enforce all laws to rid the Thai fishing industry of human trafficking, so as to boost exports and stimulate the economy.

Deputy Prime Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan has chaired the second National Fisheries Policy Committee meeting of 2021, which acknowledged progress in remedying illegal fishing, including the registration of local fishing boats. The meeting was informed that as of May 20, 2021, a total of 56,087 boats had been registered with the Marine Department, which carried out an inspection to identify the boats. The meeting was also notified of measures to improve compliance with the Marine Mammal Protection Act (MMPA).

The meeting proceeded to approve the 2020-2022 Thai Sea Fishing Management Plan and the second national plan for preventing and suppressing Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) Fishing, which was extended to encompass all aspects of sea fishing. Further measures were also approved to speed up the legal processing of fishing and fisheries labor related crimes.

Gen Prawit ordered the Fisheries Department, Marine Department and relevant divisions of the police to integrate their work in satisfying the approved policies and plans, as well as called for promotion of a proper understanding by all sides, to improve the image of Thailand’s fisheries and to help promote exports.

Wonder how many peasants were used?

His hair-colorist should be awarded some sort of distinguished service medal.

It’s all about image, isn’t it? How about an integrated effort to improve fishing practice, like no more over fishing, no more slave labour on board of ships, things like that. When you do that, the image will improve as well, it’s really not that hard.

Never trust a man who dyes his hair.

If he lies about his hair what else does he lie about..

Look at all the great dictators of the world, dyed hair!!
