Hi...

The Phuket Sandbox leaves me to have to choose between Patong or Kamala.....

Are any gyms open in Patong. I used to go to one at Sainamyen Center off Rat U Thit......any idea if this is open.  I can’t remember the name ...

Also getting food.....?    Is the Coffee Club in the front of Jungceylon open....?

And the beach chair guys.....are they still operating...

And any of the beach front cafes up the top of Had Patong Rd...??

Many thanks for the help...

The beach chair guys.  I can't answer your question about that with respect to Patong.  But on Kata for instance the beach chairs are there stacked up.  If there were tourists, which there may be after July 1, my guess is they could be up and running within an hour.  Probably the same in Patong.  At the moment, I don't believe there are any being used on Kata Beach.  Can't speak to Patong.

Will the pool and gym be open at these properties who says one be allowed to leave the hotel, to go to a gym or anywhere? Will the Health Authorities in their infinite wisdom even allow a ore-dinner beer or would that be too dangerous? Too many open questions.

The Coffee Club in front of Jungceylon is listed as temporarily closed on Google.  By the way, Jungceylon itself except for the Big C is closed.

Can't help with the rest of your questions.

Thank you....much appreciated.

The SANDBOX plan seems to be that you will have relatively free access to the area.....the whole point is to not be confined to the hotel..

but as you say.....it can all change.

You dont really understand Thai resilience. Nothing will stop them from opening in 3 weeks. Not now only a dummy would load up with staff for zero profits.

Be patient.

In addition to all the above said: yesterday I rode slowly through Patong's main roads and noticed that some business are under repair / construction with workers being busy. Looks like that some will give it a shot for July 1st. Actually Nanai Rd. is the busiest aread in Patong. No shortage of anything, if you know the right door to knock at.

Businesses all around Thailand have been doing this throughout the mandatory shutdowns...why not, if you have the funds it's a great time to remodel or expand but it has nothing to do with the 1 July opening date. Businesses were doing this in early May when I was there and the opening date hadn't been announced yet.

They are in the midst of a self-licking ice cream cone:

The businesses won't open until there is significant tourism,
and there will not be significant tourism until the business open up.
<Flush sound>  - (watch Thai tourism spiral down the bowl)

I MUST travel in July 14TH-15TH, stay until September, so my choices are ASQ-ALQ or Phuket

Costs virtually same Perhaps Phuket slightly more

For me my choice is clear

I wonder who would recommend the ASQ-ALQ

HUH:
chose an inexpensive hotel, ( seen as low as $32/night) and be able to roam around the island, have ur gf, friends, family visit you,  go to the beach, swim, walk around, talk to people, visit the malls, eat  at a restaurants, drink beer out of paper cups>
VS
locked in a hotel room for 14 nights>>

only a fool would choose 2nd option.
