Two people 'removed' from our condo yesterday........I imagine they have the legal powers to start sealing off condos?????

Sure, “removed”. Come on, you gotta try better if you wanna convince anyone of your fantasies.

I’m sure if they define strict red zones with complete travel interdiction it will help hugely. PCR tests and vaccination being obligatory for mouvement. Ban holidays and religious ceremonies. This way they don’t have to shut down everywhere. As long as travel is allowed , example, workers going into Phuket , there are going to be problems. Close borders to islands promoting sandbox. Zone closing worked in France, and we had a lot of cases. Of course, the vaccination program needs to be accelerated.

There is an old joke which applies here perfectly, stay with me as it might get little long

World medical convention, each country presents each achievements.

USA,-we can cure aids, Everyone applauds

Germany-we can cure aids, everyone applauds

Russia- we remove adenoids, everyone applauds

1 year later

USA,-we can cure cancer, everyone applauds

Germany-we can cure cancer, everyone applauds

Russia- we remove adenoids, everyone silent, Russia, we remove it with laser, everyone applauds

1 more year later

USA,-we can cure all diseases, Everyone applauds

Germany-we can cure all diseases, everyone applauds

Russia- we remove adenoids, everyone remains silent, Russia we remove it with laser, everyone remains silent, Russia we remove adenoids with laser via anus, everyone applauds

Point, is Thai government always looks for idiotic and unnecessary ways to solve easy problems, where a 7 day lockdown, would slow down the infection rate, but instead they would come up with some idiotic unworkable idea and push that.

What he is really saying is that we don't want to get caught with our pants down again so we will keep things the same as they are.

Well, if they continue to adopt the current policy of leaving the country -- oh, sorry "Bangkok" as it's only really Bangkok that matters -- "open", their pants will end up by their ankles!

The problem with military regimes is that power is controlled by those with a military training and they have little knowledge of commerce or running a country! However, they are not beholden to the people -- or common sense -- as they are the ones in power and the public can do little about it!

So:

"locking down Bangkok could cause more harm than good". Highly contentious as in the "wide world" lockdown has proven to be very effective against the spread of the virus -- However, it is financially destructive and governments have to spend a lot of money in supporting the people and economy! [I thought Thailand was a wealthy country that has vast amounts of money to throw it at Chinese submarines, new transport projects, etc.?]

He wants to avoid another mass exodus to the provinces ["that caused such a debacle at Songkran"]. Yes, a good idea -- but too late now!

"Isolating people in certain zones in Bangkok would be a better strategy"!  Mmmmm,  except in the "land of corruption" and with people living in dire poverty "escapees" would venture out unless these areas allow no one in or out and is surrounded by barbed wire and armed "protectors"! Doesn't seem practical to me!

Anyway, it's been rejected so its "carry on as normal" and "things" will go away, eventually (they hope)!

When are folks going to learn that we’re just going to have to live with this virus just like every one we’ve faced in the past. We have never locked down economies, cherry picked which businesses have to close, mandated vaccines and cowered before bureaucrats while hiding in our closets. Get over it and get on with our lives! The rest of you can hide, be my guest.

'like everyone we've faced in the past'

In the past we've had vaccinations.

But currently with only about 5% of the population vaccinated against covid 19, failing herd immunity and prevention of spread of more deadly covid 19 variants, hiding in the closet may be a safe choice.

Absolutely intelligent decision. Glad the one way approach to shooing people out and creating new infection breakouts elsewhere has finally been recognized by someone!

What they're saying is there's no way of locking down the Capitol city.

Prayut has already admitted the economies in the mire, closing the city is not going to happen.

Well, not to worry eh. we might soon be having Climate Lock-Downs...seems that it is already being discussed elsewhere (WHO, Germany/EU and the US). Covid did well on emissions so why not, eh? If, and I say if, that happens, tourism everywhere will take a hammering and whether to 'open this and that place' will be academic.

I know one female who would be happy though, Ha!

And yet the cases keep cresting 4000+.  Imho they have two choices: lockdown for a week or lower the cycle count of PCR tests to a standard 28 so that only the truly sick and symptomatic are identified as cases. Keep running PCRs at a high cycle count like 40 and continue to pop a bunch of asymptomatic cases and there's an economic price to pay.
You can't have it both ways.

In Israel 40% of new infections in people already completely vaccinated with Pfizer. You are playing with dynamite, Monsignor!

Add a bit of realism.... yesterday, new infections in Israel totalled 146 so 40% of that is 58.

5.15 million have had both jabs and nobody has said the vaccine gives you immunity.

58 out of 5 million is 0.00112%

Monsewer seems to be in a flap about very little.
