I've been in Phuket since March (drove from Pattaya) and my annual government road tax is now due. The car is registered in Chonburi, with Chonburi plates of course and what I'm wondering is if I can pay the tax at the Land Transportation Office here is Phuket? Would I have to re-register the car in Phuket to do this and get new plates? I do intend to return to Pattaya later this year (October).

Just go to one of the testing centres displaying this signlogotoroor.gif.ee20b1d67e09b726fab568b0b86ec817.gif

you can pay tax and insurance in any province, absolutely  no need to "re register" or get new plates

Thanks...good to know. I just didn't know if I could pay the tax in any LTO office or only in the province where the car was registered/plated. (Example: I couldn't pay a California annual car registration fee in Texas (I don't think).) Yes, I use one of those services in Pattaya.

If you see a sign,  พ.ร.บ. ,that is the same ,you should be able to  renew the tax .

I use our local one all the time .most now are testing stations .

Sure you can. Of the 9 million vehicles registered in Bangkok x millions are driving all over the country. Heaven helps if they would all have to go to Bangkok.

As far as I remember there is usually an extra counter for out of province.

And your car is younger than 7 years, no inspection due?

They've always been testing stations. That's their primary business.

Most all of them do 'all inclusive' inspection including doing any insurance office and LTO running about for you. Or you can get it inspected only and go do the queuing and paper shuffling by yourself.

Yes it has to have the annual emissions test.
