Popular Post TallGuyJohninBKK
My wife's company in BKK had a new COVID case reported among the few workers still showing up in her office (as opposed to working from home)... So they looked around to try to find a place to obtain COVID testing for those who had been potentially exposed... Couldn't find anywhere to send the staff... So, some calls were made at levels of influence, and a whole contingent ended up going to one of the main private hospitals in BKK where they were tested at the all-in price of 5000+ baht apiece. Wouldn't have happened, if the "influence" factor hadn't come into play. Edited July 8, 2021 by TallGuyJohninBKK
Popular Post Marvin Hagler
22 minutes ago, dinsdale said: On Monday, April 27, the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Awareness (CCSA) announced that the emergency decree and nationwide lockdown, originally scheduled to end on Thursday, April 30, will be extended until Sunday, May 31, amid the ongoing coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. The nightly curfew from 22:00 to 04:00 (local time) will continue, social gatherings will remain prohibited, and inter-provincial travel will remain limited. Only workers from essential services, such as healthcare workers, are exempt from the measures. Those in violation of the curfew may be fined THB 40,000 or jailed for two years. Several provinces, including Bangkok, have closed nonessential businesses until at least April 30. All passengers must also wear face masks on public transport. However, authorities are making some moves to gradually re-open Thailand's economy. Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) will reopen for domestic flights from Friday, May 1, though international flights will remain restricted. Thai AirAsia and Thai Lion Air will resume also domestic flights on Friday, May 1, after the airlines suspended operations. Thai Lion Air will resume flights for several destinations ......... https://www.garda.com/crisis24/news-alerts/336571/thailand-authorities-extend-nationwide-lockdown-until-may-31-update-30 Yeah exactly...it was a lockdown in name only...I travelled all over central and eastern area of Thailand at that time thinking there would be roadblocks or something and there none...there was loads of traffic on the roads and no obstruction to driving anywhere. I like your points and am not meaning to be argumentative but the lockdown was in name only. In reality you could still move around without any problem. As mentioned I experienced this myself as did many colleagues and friends and several people on social media. Our entire company of some 800 plus people continued to travel to and work from our offices around the country (including 400 odd in our Bangkok office) as no one was working from home (not were any of our customers). The BTS was less busy then usual in Bangkok but still plenty busy enough. Restaraunts were closed though and there was a curfew in Bangkok which I must say was surreal. It was just typical Thai going through the motions. Maybe you saw it differently?

It was just typical Thai going through the motions. Maybe you saw it differently? I was in Phuket, and can only speak about there and yes, for sure I saw it differently. It was a complete lockdown and no traffic at all on the roads during curfew. Forget inter province travel, it was impossibke even to move from district to district as there were strict military road blocks everywhere. We delivered food parcels daily to the next district (Patong) and had to stop at the first road block, hand the boxes over and they would be given to the recipients who were at the other end of the road block about 70m away. Not even allowed to meet or greet them. It was that strict. I then remember the day at being given a clearance letter that allowed us, finally, to get through the one roadblock and deliver the daily parcels. That was an exciting day and i remember that small incident very well!! I cannot comment, as stated at the start of my post, for the rest of Thailand. 3

They have barely taken care of people, a few handouts, some small sums of cash, and 50% off up to a certain amount daily does not assist in staving off suffering and the needs of families. The migrant workers have received nothing and many have no income from being locked out of work, restaurants closed, and then .....well you get my point.

khunpa
Well those in charge surely managed to mess this one up badly. Most Thais, I know (low- and middle class) will not survive another lockdown. They are all frustrated, angry and depressed with now even darker times to look forward to. Personally, I just decided to take my son out of his private school for a year and homeschool him. No way I am paying lots of money for only online classes. Other parents are doing the same or finding cheaper schools. Of course this sadly means even more unemployment… I can not believe how crazy this situation is now. They had so much time to prepare for vaccinations and just did nothing. Unbelievably stupid! Anyway, not much we can do about it. Just hope not to get too sick and try to get to the other side. But this is going to take many YEARS for Thailand to overcome. Thailand really is amazing! Yes, The point I was going to make to the man with the name beginning with D was that discharged, afaik, includes those leaving field hospitals. And, I suppose but don’t know for sure, that admissions also cover field hospitals. they aren’t real hospitals though. They are just containment dorms and in terms of being able to provide medical facilities, totally irrelevant. anyway, time to move on.

Popular Post anchadian
Thailand’s northeastern province of Ubon Ratchathani has recently come up with its own model for local quarantine, to accommodate native residents infected with COVID-19 and who develop mild symptoms. The living quarters, for asymptomatic cases and those with mild symptoms, are not a “hospitel”, a model widely adopted in Bangkok and other affluent provinces, but cottages in the middle of rice fields, which suit a province where most of the people are farmers. CCSA Spokesman Dr. Taweesin Visanuyothin, who proposed the model said that it utilizes the vast farm lands in the Northeast to shelter young native residents, returning home from the cities to receive treatment in a natural environment. People in their communities or family members will provide them with food and drinking water during their stay. https://www.thaipbsworld.com/ccsa-farm-hut-quarantine-model-in-thailands-northeast-questioned/ And don't forget the mosquito spray....they'll need it.
