Thailand can not live with covid, because hospitals can not deal with the influx of people because some idiot decided that even though you are not sick and do not really need medical attention, you should still be hospitalised.

They would be the solution if Thailand obtained them and distributed them speedily. Given the bureaucratic swamp I've just endured to obtain a pink card, permit me to doubt distribution will be faster than the new infection rate. The worst will be behind us when the infection rate starts falling significantly. It's still rising.

Partial lockdown measures imposed in and around Bangkok from Monday

Thailand’s Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) imposed a number of partial lockdown measures on Friday, including a night-time curfew and a ban on gatherings of five people or more in Bangkok and five nearby provinces, to come into effect on Monday (July 12th), to curb the continued surge in COVID-19 infections and deaths.

 

People from the capital and Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Samut Sakhon, Nakhon Pathom and Samut Prakan are urged to refrain from travel or from leaving the house between 9pm and 4am, said CCSA Assistant Spokesperson Apisamai Srirangsan.

 

Working from home is encouraged, while interprovincial travel is discouraged. Convenience stores are required to close from 8pm to 4am. Only some parts of malls are allowed to open, only until 8pm, such as supermarkets, restaurants (with no dine-in), banks, pharmacies, electronic shops and vaccination sites. All spas and massage parlours are ordered to close. Parks have to close at 8pm and public transport must stop operating between 9pm and 3am.

One the figures are highly suspect in Thailand and two I suspect you are quoting crude rather than case rate fatality.

Firstly, this isn't a killer per se, just a flu variant.

 

The survival rate is around 99% and the percentage who have covid is 10k. 

 

So for 200,000 to die (your minimum) then @ 99% survival rate that assumes 20m have covid but at the 10k per 70m people contraction rate, that would need a population size of 140,000,000,000 (yes, 140bn) or about 20 times the population of the earth.

So perhaps stop bandying about meaningless made up numbers of people who might die.

What is certain however is that the numbers who will die on the roads will exceed any covid numbers.

If only COVID was just a flu variant.

The flu does not incapacitate patients for months. The flu does not start turning up in other organs, such as heart muscle and the brain. The flu does not become more infectious, it attenuates and yearly vaccines can deal with it easily. COVID is unknown territory.

While I can understand overreaction may become tedious for some, minimizing this pandemic is not a good thought process either.

Are the drivers tested prior to leaving and when arriving at destinations ?

Have had a few direct deliveries from Bangkok, and told no checks on route .

does these facts of yours apply to pneumonia too ?

which attacks the lungs and breathing, which gives long term health problems, necessitates time in ICUs with breathing equipment,  and kills many more people in Thailand than Covid ?

From memory, my pneumonia vaccination is done every five years or so. I don't know if they vaccinate for pneumonia in Thailand.

So: force everybody to congregate at said reduced times, rather than make supermarkets open 24 hours and actually help solve a social distancing problem.

 

But we are all aware that the combined IQ of the leadership here would not be higher than a single rocking horse. 

 

The curfew is all about military control, and does not matter much with nowhere to go anyway.

 

Nevertheless, they'd love it to be a forever thing, it's likely only tourists that have prevented that since the rocking horse winners previously darkened our nightlife back in 2014 not a bat virus in sight then.

It wouldn't make much difference if they held their breath until you did, they're already brain-dead.

These measures seem too soft IMO. Here in Spain, when we suffered that terrible 1st wave the whole country was put under lockdown between march and june and you were only allowed to leave home to buy food, medicines and a couple of additional urgent situations. The army was deployed throughout the whole country, there were military controls everywhere. I even found the militaries a couple of times in the supermarket I usually go, checking the situation. It was really shocking, like a <deleted> movie, but it worked. In June contagions went down almost to zero. And at that time we didn't have the hope of the vaccines yet so the situation was much worse.

 

So I think Thailand needs to do exactly that: lock down the whole country for three months, deploy the whole army and police to control that the measures are respected, and use those three months to buy vaccines desperately and design the logistics to innoculate the whole country as fast as possible after the lockdown. They need to learn from the bad times others had.

 

I wish the best to thai people, extremelly difficult times coming for them.

 they do, and my mrs got it in BKK at my request last month as a backstop for the lack of covid vacc, she since got her 1st AZ shot last week.

I got mine as a pneumonia survivor a few years ago, it was one dose, I am not aware of my dose longevity, but the doc in BKK said her jabs are a course of three for life. Sorry I can't give you a vax brand name, but I do know its available.
