Well that should keep them out... one checkpoint at the usual place on Sukhumvit near the police station canteen.

And what exactly, will they be checking for?

No Bangkok plate scanners available ...? that would help for first triage/selection ...

Last time they wanted to know where you were going/why and checking temperatures.

And, the reason I believe they stopped was risk of transmission to the workers at the checkpoints which makes sense.

Next point checked on the list "how to keep them out".

Next point (hopefully not!) "travel permission in/out". What a chaos that was.

Looks like currently just a show of force/fear mongering.

Probably the usual temperature check only (99th check of the day after having visited shops/malls)?

Since a week at our road up here there is a Covid checkpoint.

A tent, some plastic chairs.

Unmanned. Never seen a soul.

Exactly, complete waste of time.

Stop a car get nose or throat raped then off you go.....wait a minute, they might be positive - oops, too late!!!

Again...

I expect the checkpoints will mainly be to enforce the "don't go out after 9pm" rule they just brought in.

If they aren't setting up checkpoints on the 3, 36 and 7, then it's a complete waste of time. Having a checkpoint (on one side of the 3) at the Bang Lamung police station is near useless. They should be set up where the bridges are in northern Chon Buri, not half way down the province.

I just (roughly) plotted out where the checkpoints are supposed to be according the article in the OP.

So glad no one will think to take the #7 into Chon Buri. Or the 331. Or a dozen other ways that could easily bypass the checkpoints. I guess "covid" can't keep up with the speed everyone drives on the toll highways !

They got it,

corporal Somchai...work with 100% accuracy,

unless "buying" food, collecting up tea money, talking his mia noi, driving the boss' Mua noi for shopping, looking for lottery number clues, the weather being sunny, it is raining, at night time, or having a nap ....so about 5% of all time available, but then does a flowless job.

I look forward to seeing a member of Pattaya Plod at last.  I travel four times a week and have seen zero cops in over a year.
