July 26, 20214 yr Popular Post Our security guard found this (harmless) snake and my daughter wants to help it. But it's very lethargic and I reckon might not make it through the night. Does anyone have any idea (the species and) its diet... so we might be able to help it survive. Thanks in advance.
July 26, 20214 yr Popular Post beautiful tree snake, green, eats insects, lizzards, etc. I hope it lives.
July 26, 20214 yr Popular Post Yup it's a Golden. Beautiful, fast (I'm amazed you caught one), harmless to humans. Eats frogs, eggs etc etc, can glide between trees. Not sure what you could tempt it with, maybe some wet cat food if you have any, keep it warm and see what happens. They are not rare, but if you can help one why not. "I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"
July 26, 20214 yr Popular Post This snake is the known as 'Greenitis nonovisaetius 90dayus maiximus', the common 'Green Expat Marking Snake'. It seeks out overstaying expats, or those who's 90 day report is over 2 weeks late, bites them, at which they turn bright green and can be easily picked up by immigration. I'm surprised that you weren't warned about this venomous little ratbag. Handling it is not a good idea. Or you could believe the posts above, up to you
July 26, 20214 yr Author Thanks to you all. ???????????????????????? Our security guard caught it, but my daughter has taken over its care! ???????? The guard gave it some pork, which is struck at and gobbled up. I hope it will have enough energy in the morning to disappear up a tree.
July 30, 20214 yr Author Popular Post Day #5 update. The snake is still with us, and we keep it in a safe box at night. It's not eating much, but that's sort of understandable because it naturally catches its own food that's moving. Today's plan is to leave it in a tree in front of the house with plenty of sunlight. Of course, we don't want it to overheat, but some warmth might get it more active. It has strength to react when handled, but appears not to want or be able to dart away as one would expect. A great pet to show off, but longterm it needs to be in its natural habitat and the novelty would wear off anyway.

This video shows the Golden Tree Snake "flying" (it's actually just gliding...): I wonder if the OP's snake is ill or injured, because as said above Golden Tree Snakes are usually *very* fast around humans. They are slightly venomous, but are rear fanged so they'd have to grab onto a finger or toe and nibble to be able to inject any venom, and even then I don't believe a bite would be fatal.

I second your opinion of the snake probably being injured or ill. Highly unusual behavior for this kind of snake. Sounds hard but Nature takes care of animals that are too old, hurt or ill to sustain themselves.
July 31, 20214 yr I stopped my gardener from killing one last week they are harmless however I don’t think it’s a good idea adopting it as a pet as they like their freedom
July 31, 20214 yr Well that answered my question . This one was killed by a local farmer , 100 m from me , while preparing his field.

No wild animal should be confined, and NO animal should be caged. Ours got its freedom today and we hope it gets strength to enjoy it.

July 31, 20214 yr Popular Post Very nearly on topic and for those that like amphibians I found this yesterday while strimming the lawn edge. A toad but not the regular looking ones.

The kind of food us needs you can not substitute with human made food. You shorten the expected lifespan as well temper with animal well being. Let it go outside and you will see will regularly around the house.
July 31, 20214 yr Love to see them flying from tree to tree and hooking on the branch with their bent tail. Evolution, eh? They love eating frogs and lizards here in Lamphun among the lamyai trees. Their fangs are at the back of their upper jaws. So, don't stick your fingers in too far! They chew their prey.
July 31, 20214 yr Golden tree snakes not completely harmless : they can bite and they have a mildly venomous venom , not considered to be dangerous to humans
July 31, 20214 yr Was relaxing on a beach and this snake dropped out of a tree. Totally freaked me out. Beautiful, fast
July 31, 20214 yr They love the little geckos that are everywhere. I would rather have the geckos eating the flies and mosquitos though.

August 1, 20214 yr They are a back fang snake, so don't point wth fingers or thumb once they bite, they find it differcult to release. not deadly for humans but they like to raid birds nests for eggs, afraid my dog doesn't like them and will kill if seen. watch them move and climb they are fast. Great tohave around the garden, but not if they want to come indoors.
August 1, 20214 yr Curious, why did you handle it without knowing what type of snake it was? Braver man than me but maybe just as dumb, Joke. By the way like all before me it is a harmless G T S. Can bite.
