A caravan of 40 teams of rural doctors from across the country have begun their first day of COVID-19 proactive screening in dense communities in Bangkok, using Antigen Test kits, which will continue until next Tuesday

Excellent!

I wonder what the projected number of tests done each day would be.

So these are random tests in various locations?

If it's voluntary walk up testing what is the motivation of people to seek a test?

Negative test for job or feeling slightly ill etc?

Anyway has to be positive step.

AZ is fine - strange she has that opinion

Her medical condition prevents here from having the AZ as she is predisposed to the possibility of a clot.  It is why she see's a specialist here in BKK, yet it is not a condition that would get her a vaccination now of the donated Pfizer.

a risk some were not willing to take and I agree

Might be wrong but think it was perhaps you that gave me wrap on knuckles last week when I posted pics of my experience at Bang Sue. And fair enough.

It was so so crowded. Much worse than I imagined.

I agree it was perfect storm situation to obtain covid virus.

I hate to put people off obtaining a jab however it's not the best situation.

Do whatever you can to mask up with best quality mask.

That's not what the poster said. The poster was asking for links to verify some of the claims. The ones of us who post on subjects either are referencing another link previously posted or add our own link to support what we write, unless of course it's anecdotal in nature.

Well, I expect to see links on all your opinions then.

For 1 week though, to cushion the effect of panic buying.

Thailand is a net exporter of food, shouldn't be a shortage overall, not saying supply lines may get stretched occasionally due to infections/isolating etc.

Exporter of what types of food?

There will always be staples on the shelves such as rice etc but everything else could get very low.

Yet another monumental achievement by those in charge... You should be proud!!!

They by and large contained the first variant. But this Delta variant is more brutal.

Hindsight is wonderful, but during that first year (and this doesn't only apply to Thailand) should have gone in hard for vaccines. But because the situation seemed contained, they were too relaxed.

Everything the “rose coloured glasses” brigade have argued about during this pandemic has been proven to be wrong. You can’t argue with the numbers.

Much of what the rose coloured glasses brigade have argued about in the past (pre Covid) was subjective without hard proof to decide either way. Perhaps they have always been wrong all along.

The gauntlet has been laid down. One of our posters who months ago wanted precise dates and numbers will be happy you have given a date. Standby...

This isn't a gauntlet.  I pray to all the gods I don't believe in that it never reaches that level.  I just can't overcome the deep sadness that overcomes me when I think of how this could have been handled.

Aren’t those produced by factories that are overrun with Covid?

Fish come from the sea, chickens from farms and fruit from trees.

Oh, and milk comes from cows (not the supermarket)

Just like everywhere else, we will peak, and then numbers will drop. It won’t matter much what we do. We will then have secondary spikes. This is not a big mystery. You can’t stop it, and it naturally tapers off.

The measures or vaccines won’t be the reason for the major taper, but everyone will say they are.

i agree.  i think the 'measures' cut things down somewhat but this delta spreads real fast.  this thing is going to run and get who it can get and then it'll be gone for awhile.  looking at almost all the charts for countries (or states if talking USA), the numbers go straight up and straight down.  they don't go up and plateau in the stratosphere and hang there for six months.  i'm not ready to call a top yet but i think the thai govt official that thought two more weeks was not way off.  could it be a month ?  maybe.  but i don't see the peak in october that's for sure.

Yes and they leap straight onto the shelves without any human intervention needed.

Oh wait, of course, people willl drive from all over the country to get there seafood fresh off the boats in the harbour. And the chicken farms will open their gates and hand out knives for everyone to slaughter their own chickens. And the pineapple farmers will invite everyone in to pick their own and people from all over the country will flock to the fields (wearing masks and social distancing of course).

Yes, you make complete sense.

GF just saw a post and message on her Facebook account and I saw it on my line account from Mor Prom wanting folks to wear them even when inside the house if they have other family members living with them

this is probably the most effective measure of all.  it sounds silly.  but spread among family members is obviously the biggest 'spreader event' of all.  keep the mask on and the windows open !!

In other words, now that it's in print, tomorrow people will probably be freaking out hoarding supplies.

Unless Thais are smarter than westerners.

My wife when starting out in her teaching career decided to buy land and grow fruit - I could walk around her fruit and vegetables and rubber all morning and not pass the same tree. Worst case scenario for her she goes home with our daughter and lives off the land.

So, yes, she is smarter than a lot of westerners and wont need to hoard anything.

Former construction worker is now homeless, living in a pipe, and unemployed due to Covid-19 restrictions in Pattaya, tells his story

Pattaya –

A former construction worker who is now laid off and unemployed due to Covid-19 related measures and restrictions that have essentially shut most major construction projects in Chonburi was found living in a concrete pipe near a road in Pattaya recently.

I suspect that most of these new cases are in factories rather than in the general population, even though some of the factory workers live in the community.

I had a friend start work at a factory this week, and she had to take a rapid antigen test.

True ! Some of the Workers in the Factories live locally in their Communities.

However there are also many, many, who travel Daily to their Workplace by Company assisted Bus, Minivan, and their own Cars.

Some of these people may be travelling upwards of 100 Km each way every Day for work, so if Covid is present in their workplaces, then it will soon migrate.

Once again, it wasn't an opinion. It was a statement that there was data showing Covid has had no effect on total excess deaths in Massachusetts since mid-2020, but with no link to the source of the data.

Then it never happened.....
