Weird how so many suspects confess in Thailand

i once saw a thai policeman smack a "suspect" in hua hin main bar road,

he was without uniform, and he just smacked him over and over , dozens

of times. when i approached to see what is going on, he just said :"i am police".

so what would they do to suspects behind closed doors?

The Daily News is reporting today that the arrested man, 27 year-old Thirawat Thothip, was at one time a Muay Thai boxer known as 'Banglee' who fought at various venues before he got into drugs. He is also the son of a former famous local kamnan (village chief).

this description might fit half the 27 thai man in phuket who own bikes.

the rest, who do not own mikes, were also thai boxing champions who got into drugs,

but could not afford a bike because they are not the sons of head village.

Confessions are common in impulsive crimes. The suspect was probably hailed out on meth at the time with no control of his impulses.

33 year old Burmese national yesterday, 27 year old Thai national today,

Suspect spoke to media and made a full confession.

Police being paid a 200,000 reward by local tourism the same day.

So sorry for the relatives being put through this absolute c...p.

Total indictment of mentality of officialdom including top ranking police !!!!!

So they have an CCTV in the middle of nowhere which surprisingly works and also gives a crystal clear picture of his face, how much did he get paid to confess he will be out of jail in a year or so and be very healthy. One word comes to mind " Scapegoat "

No, it was never a 33 years old Burmese national. The only source for that was a tweet, undoubtedly from someone 'in the know'.

Police being paid a reward, could be, but any source for that?

Please explain your final sentence.

CCTV is on the main traveled routes, and this waterfall is a big tourist attraction.  With many people traveling on that road and parking along it they obviously thought a camera was needed to monitor the area.  Maybe they had prior reports of thefts in the Area, drug dealing etc.....who knows.  Why slam them for having a CCTV camera there.  You might want to look around you, you might be surprised how many there are and yes the Government ones do work sometimes better than those on the building fronts.

Good, it is crimes like this which have spurred the increase of of surveillance cameras in many areas.  Look up occasionally and see how often you are being observed

Why would he be "paid" if indeed his face is on camera and he has the injuries he is photographed with,  also if  his DNA is at the crime scene?

You explain yourself and do little more due diligence before you post. Everything I quoted was from local news reports of Police Conferences.

IMHO this was a setup and you need to get a grip on reality.

Just read the transcripts

Looking forward to a link of a local police report that states it was a 33 year old Burmese national.

The Police never did state his Nationality , they actually refused to comment .

The tweet claiming he was Burmese soon got deleted , possibly because they were spreading false news .

Think about it : Why would they try to frame a Thai and let a Burmese guy get away with it ?

That just doesnt make any sense

Quote:

"

EARLIER STORY:
A police commander was speaking to the media and exclaimed “Good news” and told attending media that the case was “all wrapped up”.
Police say they have arrested a 33 year old Burmese national.
They claim they have CCTV footage with the suspect riding a motorcycle on the road close to the waterfall.

UPDATE:
In later reports today Thai media have variously described the suspect as a 33 year old Burmese,
a 27 year old Thai and, with Thai PBS, not sure…

but police will make a statement in a media conference later.

"

Source = The Thaiger

You both look it up yourself instead of just shooting from the hip.

That news source Thaiger were just reposting online rumours from the Thairath outlet.

If you read the actual police report , they did say they aren't commenting on his Nationality .

They always seem happy doing the reenactment, actor for a day maybe

I always cringe when I see re-enactments such as this.   Seriously, what purpose do they actually do, other than an opportunity for the police to act like they know what they are doing and how important they are.   I could see the point if they were appealing for witnesses, but they use the actual person who has been charged with the crime rather than a substitute.   Unbelievable.

As expected, no link. Your quote was from someone thinking he knew when he really didn't know

Police never stated the perpetrator was a 33 year old Burmese national.

That's what they said yesterday, not the day before.

No, police never said that. But I'm happy to be convinced you're correct with a link.
