Another Classic Crazy Thai Wife Moment

Ok first let me say I love my Thai wife of 11 years. 95% of the time she’s great - loving, kind hearted and jealous as you know what. The other 5% of the time she’s just bat dung crazy. Anyone married to a Thai for any length of time knows what I’m talking about. While there have been many instances over the years of her head exploding over minor stuff only to forget about it an hour later, this latest episode was over the top even for her.. First some background. About 6 months ago we were going to buy a house in San Antonio. I put down a deposit only to have her change her mind costing me my deposit. Ok no big deal. I wasn’t even that convinced about it. I cancelled the deal and we never spoke of it afterwards. We had other options and the money wasn’t a big deal. Anyway a few days ago we were driving from our current home in AZ down to Panama City FL for a nice getaway on the beach. I had rented a beautiful beach front condo for 6 nights and going to look for a condo to buy for a vacation place for us. We took her car. We had to drive through San Antonio. She was driving at the time. She asked me if we’d ever been through the area we were driving before. I said that we have and actually looked at some houses in this area. Well I should have known better than to make this innocent statement simply to give her a point of reference. She went off like a damned top about why I blame her for losing my deposit! Huh????? Next thing I know she’s in full Thai girl meltdown mode and is pulling over in a busy right hand turn lane and stops! She jumps out, screaming some crazy stuff in Thai, grabs her bags and mine and off she goes in the usual huff. Now she’s done the whole leaving the house with an empty suitcase before when she’s been mad but never made it further than the park across the street from our house and came home as soon as she got hungry. But this was in the middle of a city we weren’t that familiar with. Anyway, I jump in the driver side of the car to get it out of the busy turn lane she stopped in so we wouldn’t get killed. My only option was to drive around the block to get back to her. By the time I’d come back around she had disappeared - bags and all. Ok so now I start to panick. I text her, call her all to no avail. I drive around everywhere for two hours looking for her. Still no word. I call the cops. They tell me she had to be missing for 24 hours. Then I remember she had a Thai girlfriend there and she no doubt called her to come get her. I sent one more text telling her I was going to wait another hour to hear from her then I was leaving her ass there. I waited 2 more hours driving around. No word. So I left her cute little mad ass in SA and continued my trip! She finally texts me 6 hours later that she’s ok. She’s with the Thai friend and they’re hatching up all kinds of Thai girl madness to let me know this was all my fault. You all know Thai girls are never wrong. Ok fine. I know how this goes. Arguing with her will just make it worse. Best to just give her some space. So I just continued to Florida without her as she would be making my life hell if she were here. Anyway she writes me to tell me she needs a few days before she can talk. Ok fine I already know this which is why I didn’t write her back after leaving to begin with. So here I sit looking over the Gulf of Mexico by myself, with no luggage,  and actually enjoying the peace and quiet. As for the wife, she’ll be fine. She’s no doubt calculating some gift or penance I need to do before she forgives me for making her so damned mad in the first place. Ill pick her up a little something and get her on the way home and all will be forgotten by then. Never a dull moment with these amazing little creatures! For me, just another day in the life with a crazy Thai wife! Lol

Not for me to say, but I wonder if these blow-ups have been increasing in frequency and intensity, and if you've looked into your crystal ball to see where it might be headed.  Perhaps not pulling the trigger to add another piece of real estate to the marriage portfolio at this time, was a fortuitous event.

 

PS: Wife and I flew into Miami a few years ago, drove up to Panama City Beach and did a month in a nice AirBnB house a block from the beach.  Cruised all over the place, P-Cola, on over to Biloxi for a night at the casino/hotel.  Pretty neat.

 

Is the COVID situation putting a damper on things?

When my girlfriend moved in with me 11 years ago i told her that i would never scream or yell

at her and that i would never except her doing that to me.

Works for us.No matter what the problem is you do not have to take it out on your partner

but of course you know her better then us over here.

Don’t worry. Nothing is in her name. All properties are in my Trust and she always signs a disclaimer deed waiving any rights. We don’t even have joint bank accounts.

Given that I already know the outcome before it starts I find it more amusing than anything else. It really doesn’t happen often. A handful of times in 11 years. This one was just a doozy. But yeah I get that a lot of guys wouldn’t put up with it. For me the benefits outweigh the few temper tantrums. My first wife was American and was worse.

Dale, I feel ur pain. Went to FSU, know PC well, awesome surf in the park in the winter. great clubbing, redneck girls. Anyway I have Brazilian gf going on 18 years. Bi-polar and takes getting used to. I can see in the morning her eyes tell me who's home. Lucky for me it's her 95% of the time. When I see those eyes I use those 50 ways to leave your lover. She knows and has been treated so we just deal with it. For better or worse actually works better without a contract ie; marriage. Love makes it worth it.

Reminds me of a couple weeks ago when my Thai wife and I made a mad dash from our home in Khao Kalok beach to Chiang Rai to see her parents and pick up my dog that was staying there. I'm really new, not here even 6 months yet, so I can't utter a Thai sound that any Thai understands. 

 

We got into a big blowout somewhere before Phaya and she stopped talking to me.  About 30 minutes later we hit a checkpoint. I roll the window down and the cop asks me something in Thai. I assumed he was asking where I was going and where I was headed, so I told him in English. Well, he didn't understand me at all but he sees my wife sitting in the passenger seat. He asks in broken English does she speak Thai. She doesn't answer, so I tell him, yeah, she speaks Thai. He and his buddies all laughed and asked us to get out of the car and go over to some COVID monitoring people under the tent.

 

I whip out my J&J vaccine card that I snagged on my mad dash to the USA last month and, of course, she isn't vaccinated and was carrying on a conversation with some other folks there. They sent us on our way. Still, we hadn't spoken a word to each other.

 

I drive another 2 or 3 hours after nightfall and finally make it to Ban Mae Tam which is about 50 KM east of Chiang Rai.  The roads are unlighted and I can't see sh*t. And, because it's supposed to be a surprise, the house lights aren't on. They live off the main road but the address isn't on Google, so I always plug in "Dr Witts" house, which *is* on Google. I managed to get us into the ballpark and still she isn't talking so is of no help in me finding the place in the dark. Circled the block twice before I finally located it and pulled into the driveway where my dog awaited on the other side of the gate. 

 

Long story short, I left her there and go back to Khao Kalok with my dog, when she called me and reminded me we have a 9 PM curfew. So returned to her parents' house and eventually we talked it out and, well, you can figure out the rest.

I'm sure he comes from this predictable class that automatically considers all Thai ladies cut from the same character. 

You certainly shouldn't cast the expected stereotypes from limited experience and exposure.

My experience is that the run-aways and long bouts of silence are not so much to punish as to avoid further, greater conflict.  It's part of Thai's aversion to conflict.

OP seems to imply that such behaviour is normal, or to be expected, from a thai lady. in my (extensive) experience this could not be further from the truth. i have never experienced such behavior from a thai lady, i have never seen or heard about friend having similar experience, i have many thai females as friends, and again, have never witnessed any behaviour remotely comparable to that described. personaly i wouldn't stand for it.

Intresting to know what kind family backround this "lady" have? To me she loose face, and if op always take blame she can do what ever she like. Right thing to do, if that kind happen is not call her and not even pick her call when she call. Let her think what she has done! If still want her back let her "suffer" little time! "Pig" coming home when get hungry!

My guess. Either bipolar or some other illness. Or,she's just not that into you,and puts up with being with you for other intrinsic benefits. Every so often the frustration of sacrificing her heart for those other benefits causes an explosion which resets the clock until the volcano builds up again.

 

Knowing your age, looks and charisma against her age, looks and feminine charm would probably answer which of the above it is.

Of course we've had our differences (often just misunderstandings) when she goes into "silent mode" but it rarely lasts more than a few hours (she just can't keep quiet that long).
