Protection for medics or impunity for govt: COVID amnesty bill under spotlight

I understand that the health care workers need this legal protection as civil litigation can be a difficult and expensive process for a defendant in Thailand. The other lot are added to this necessary piece of legislation

Normally to stop this added nonsense an MP would table an amendment, but as this is a decree and not a law then this route may not available as parliament may not debate it - not really sure what a decree in Thai law is....

Then who knows.....

Don't really have a problem with the health workers, but the likes of Anutin should definitely not fall under this umbrella IMO

So you do not agree with the the law giving immunity to Pfizer and other drug manufacturers. Happy to hear you are not one eyed biased.

Would this law protect those , if there are any, that expected major drug vaccine companies provide brown envelopes and got refused causing a delay in any vaccines at all?

Just in case that something like that actually maybe could have happened?

"Criminal lawsuit endorsed by 700,000 people filed against PM over pandemic fiascoes"

And this is the ONLY reason for the amnesty.

The criminal lawsuit was filed yesterday. Amnesty tomorrow?

There u go .

It seems that the Thai government is now bringing their amnesty in via the back door.

Two articles in The Thai Enquirer are noted as stating that the government will change existing legislation rather than going for new legislation.

'the government has snuck through the amnesty act by amending an old law.'

'the government’s attempts to sneak in an amnesty clause into existing law and that the government’s moves show they know they are ultimately responsible for the country’s disastrous Covid-19 response.'

This 100%.

If people here believe the the bs that this is anything to do with protecting front line medical staff and not the head security guard and his 2 Bob cabinet then they need to wake up.
