Phuket updates local entry rules - QUESTION?

Phuket officials have amended the requirements for domestic travel to the island, allowing some categories to enter. The measures are in place until at least the end of the month. According to TTR Weekly, domestic arrivals who meet the criteria below can enter Phuket via land, sea, or air.

– Anyone returning to Phuket who can produce a house registration book that confirms they are a resident of the island or anyone who can show evidence of being permanently employed on the island

– Foreign tourists in the country under the Phuket sandbox scheme or other tourism project. Drivers or service providers who can prove they are operating as part of an authorised tourism scheme, such as the sandbox.

– Anyone arriving for essential business who cannot postpone the visit. Anyone else travelling for essential reasons, who will be admitted on a case-by-case basis, at the discretion of checkpoint bosses.

All domestic travellers who meet the criteria above must be fully vaccinated with Sinovac, Sinopharm or AstraZeneca – or a combination of Sinovac and AstraZeneca. Other approved vaccines include Pfizer, Moderna, and the single-dose Johnson & Johnson, which must have been administered at least 14 days prior to arrival on the island. Recovered Covid-19 patients will be required to have a negative PCR or antigen test within 72 hours of travel.

 

I am Phuket resident, have a house registration book etc, AZ vaccinated (1 shot only) back in June (2nd dose appointment on September 17th).

According to rules above I am not eligible to re-enter even as a Phuket resident? Am I reading this correctly?

Yes, you are reading correctly.

If you are fully vaccinated and a Phuket resident, my understanding is you should be able to leave and return.

 

The article is not clear IMHO if one jab of AZ is nominally sufficient.

 

If you wish to be more certain of reentry you could go to your subdistrict city hall and see if they will give you paperwork to allow reentry. I have a friend who recently did that.

I have a friend who is a Phuket resident, has a house (yellow) book, has had 1st AZ jab, who left Phuket a few (?) days ago and was allowed back into Phuket. To be certain of re-entry he went to the Phuket subdistrict city hall where he lives (prior to leaving Phuket) and obtained paperwork saying he could re-enter. He noted upon arrival at Phuket airport they processed him 1st because ( he thinks) of his paperwork from city hall.

Not clear? It says 'fully vaccinated or a combination', and later mentions 'single dose J&J'. So pretty clear for others 2 doses are required.

My Phuket resident friend re-entered Phuket today ... He has had only 1 AZ jab. ... So I think unclear is a polite way to describe this.

I know this is vague, but I read somewhere that Phuket residents can come back in if they have two shots of Sinovac, or, one shot of AZ.

I understood from the new entry guidelines that this was not possible.

Way I read it is only direct back to airport for flight out.

Yes. They already changed normative (once again), so sandboxers may return to Phuket. I assume that PCR would be mandatory.
