Thailand on Monday (August 30) reported 15,972 new COVID-19 cases, 17,281 recoveries and 256 additional deaths over the past 24 hours.

● 17,281 recoveries

 15,696 new infections

 280 prison / prison infections

Monday’s cases bring the total number of COVID-19 infections in Thailand to 1,190,063 with 11,399 deaths.

(Total infections since April 1: 1,161,200)

The news comes as the number of recovering COVID-19 patients has exceeded the number of new infections in the past 10 days, so has the quantity of unoccupied hospital beds in Bangkok and its neighboring provinces, said Public Health Permanent Secretary Dr. Kiattibhoom Vongrachit Sunday.

Citing the case of Busarakham field hospital, he said that, as of yesterday, there were 1,905 patients still undergoing treatment, compared to 3,526 patients last week, representing a drop of 54%, and the Nimibutr pre-admission facility, which is now only accommodating 94 patients, divided into 54 “green” (mild symptoms) patients, 34 “yellow” (moderate symptoms), and six “red” (severe case) patients.

Overall downward trend is continuing and thats great news although thoughts should also remain with the 1,062 still on ventilators and 5,058 in ICU. There are still people dying at home from covid.

Rapid tests positive cases, 2,028 bringing the unofficial total to 18,878

48,190 official pcr tests carried out yesterday.

Rolling 7 day average (up to 28th Aug) which includes prison cases and bar chart of community cases from daily official announcements.

Are these as someone would say Artifacts, or are the numbers truly dropping.  If they are dropping then I applaud the fact that cases are lessening, and I will leave it at that.  Lets see what Wednesdays Sandbox style openings have as an effect on the economy as well as future cases.  Yes it is a Sandbox style opening and in my view a preparation for opening up all of Thailand to those vaccinated and negative tested, as far as on a domestic scale.  Lets see what happens folks.

Stay safe, protect yourself, your families, household help, the animals and of course keep your sanity intact.

Also a big drop in "recoveries".

Hospital walk-in cases are dropping.

Could there be a reason for this, other than the epidemic is diminishing?

In Sydney they have a very hard lockdown that is enforced on the streets and door to door by the Police and Army and yet the case numbers are still rising.

In Thailand with practically no lockdown for all intents and purposes and far less favourable living conditions the numbers are miraculously dropping!

NSW (about same size as Thailand) conducted 157,000 tests in a population of 8,000,000. Thailand conducted 49,000 tests in a population of 70,000,000.

Do you think Thailand’s numbers may be dropping because they are not doing anywhere near enough testing? Or is it because they shower twice a day, wat chilli and wai instead of shake hands?

On top of that the Vaccination rate in NSW is three times higher than in Thailand.

Shame on you if you believe this propaganda from a government desperate to save face.

It's Thailand the land of miracles.

The second you step out of the plane you're a hunsum man.

You make 45,000b a month but your net worth is half a billion. No wonder many wanna coom and tefl

The virus stops multiplying once it crosses over to Thai borders.

The whole country should be declared as a world heritage by UNESCO

It is obvious the cases would start falling down.  Nearly every country that is getting another "wave" is experiencing the same thing.  The US wave is flat lining and is expected to drop back down.  Same thing between states which all have varying mandates to strict mask wearing/closures to being 100% open.

Cases are dropping because that is how viruses spread works.  Seems like people forgot their highschool biology class.

Basically nothing you can do once the cases start rapidly rising.

Just be grateful we're not in Australia!

I can't believe this quasi lockdown is actually working. Now imagine how quickly the numbers would have fallen if they did a real lockdown...

So what would happen if they conducted 200,000 tests tomorrow? Would cases be less?

Urrrrr…have you seen the case numbers in the UK and US now that Delta has hit their shores? Not exactly what I would call a drop.

It’s almost as though there is nothing humans can do to stop a novel and very infectious virus.   Consider me (not) surprised.

Totally agree…so how then is Thailand supposedly doing it in defiance of all known logic? Or are they just cooking the books? Occams Razor.

If these data are accurate, then the lesson is simple:  Lockdowns work.

What lockdowns? There has been no lockdown in Thailand. In name only.

Let’s not get caught up in semantics. The real point is that the heavier the restrictions, the more the virus is contained.

The terminology used to describe viruses is that they come in waves.   Why do you think they used that term?   Because virus cases get higher and higher and never go down?   Or perhaps because they behave a bit like waves do?

How high does a wave go and what dictates its height? Facts please, not something made up.

Sunday numbers, they're not usually a very reliable guide to what's really going on. Unless the numbers are being manipulated, of course, but surely this paragon of honesty and decency called the Thai Government would never do that, would they, lol?
