As coronavirus variants continue to spread in many countries, governments are considering ways to boost their vaccination campaigns [File: Getty Images]

As the highly transmissible Delta variant of the coronavirus spreads in dozens of countries around the world, several governments are mixing vaccines in an attempt to boost their inoculation drives.

Mixing vaccines means administering one brand of vaccine for a patient’s first shot, followed by a vaccine made by a different manufacturer for the second dose. Proponents of the policy believe it can increase the speed and effectiveness of vaccination campaigns.

Several ongoing studies are investigating the effects of mixing coronavirus shots. Data has been released from mixed trials in Spain and the United Kingdom, which suggest that mixing vaccines leads to a strong immune response and sometimes outperforms two doses of the same vaccine.

Thailand will be able to give them all the stats they want soon.

What I have trouble understanding is that the vaccines work in different ways not just a different manufacturer. Does this matter? e.g. Sinovac is a de-activated virus and Az is an Adenovirus.

I don’t need to know anything as I refuse to take part in the experiment

I'm waiting to see the studies on 'booster' shots.  I'm sure there will be a need for a 3rd shot. Should the 3rd be the same as the first two ? Seems the 3rd shot would tend towards being not the same as your original shots.

I am noticing that criticism of the vaccines and the overall Covid 'lockdown' situation is being less censored on Youtube. This seems to have happened in the last few weeks. I am wondering what is changing? The narrative of the efficacy and safety of these vaccines is being brought more out into the open.....more light is being shed. The Covid 19 story has changed so much over the last 18 months that nothing really surprises me anymore.

Notice that "several governments are mixing vaccines."  So this is where politic leads science by the nose.  It's like allowing a five year old into a Michelin Class 5 star kitchen to cook dinner for the family.  Some things are better left to the Chef.

I'd like to see metadata analysis of ALL of the randomized, double-blind studies on mixing two different vaccines together.

Who is stupid enough to feel the need to mix vaccines and not understand that people who tell you to do this are idiots ? They know nothing but keep speaking ! it's so incredible and criminal ! Vaccinate if you want, but do not mix anything if you still have half a brain...

It is not the vaccine which protects you from developing symptoms after being exposed to a Virus, in this case the Covid-19 vaccines, SARS-CoV-2 and Covid-19 symptoms.

Vaccines ‘trigger’ an immune response - Antibodies.

The antibody response may vary very slightly, but ultimately the Antibodies created by the body’s response to the vaccines also react the same way to the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Different vaccines trigger the same or very similar antibodies, they just trick the body into doing so in a very slightly different manner, the end result is still the same, Antibodies. Of course, these may ‘vary’ slightly (when getting down to greater detail) and thus the ‘range’ of antibodies generated by the body's response to different vaccines may be more effective.

And what medical qualifications do you have?

If you have none (and I suspect that is correct) why on earth would anybody want to listen to what you say?

Back it up with links, reports and facts.

And whose opinion is that? Anybody important or qualified or just some anonymous poster on a web site.

Back it up with links, reports and facts.

I have had two shots of Moderna. Now the hype for a booster shot is starting up. So why would I want a Moderna booster shot if the first two didn't do the trick?  I'm going with Astra or Phizer or something other than Moderna for the first booster. Second (and subsequent) boosters is up in the air.

As supplies run thin vaxaholics start to mix their shots.

Oh Goodie!!☺️☺️☺️ I can now look forward to becoming magnetic as well as developing leftist commie pinko ideologies ...
