Many negative, low money and depressed with no personal future they seem to think Thailand owes them something. You're always moaning about people and their country which you describe as a "country of complainers". In fact you are possibly the biggest moaner and complainer on here. As for me, I am only here because I don't know of anywhere that would suit me better. ???? Anyway, back to my book it's a bit early for lunch yet. That's what bargirls provide for many - a 60 yr old guy has a delusion of having a 25 yr old "GF" and he feels like he is 30 again. It is a veritable fountain of youth for those who can believe the fantasy... and many of the girls are pretty good at providing the fantasy,... but it costs - and at some point, the amusement park closes and Minnie Mouse goes home and the guy wonders where all his money went... It is quite an amazing ride.. Ponce would have loved this.. 1

When I was 25 my 24yo Brit wife wasn't any more real than my 35 Year old Thai wife when I was 60yo. Nothing wrong with the 'love' delusion ..... as long as you don't splash out on a house upfront. 1

What makes you stay in spite of feeling such misery. They are not miserable here. No doubt there is a lot bad, but there is a lot good also. Not unlike any place in the world. IMO the good outweigh the bad. What all the complaining you hear , much of it with good reason, is simply commiserating, and since miserly loves company , you will find a lot of it in this forum. very few will come here and post , today nothing bad happened to me, From time to time you will get thread such as the guy who is celebrating his 43rd marriage anniversary (great thread) some humorous threads, and the ocasional "how to" tread, but when something bad happens to you it has an impact, and some want to talk about and perhaps gain reassurance that it's not their fault, and they are not the only ones. Because as I said: Misery loves company!! 3

Popular Post pacovl46
Exactly!!! My guess is: life back home would be way more miserable than their life in Thailand because life back home is more expensive and doesn’t have Thai bargirls to the same extent they have here. Also, back home they’re just old, ugly farts no woman even looks at… ???? Edited October 11, 2021 by pacovl46 3

The Fugitive
Thailand ticks almost all boxes for me. Don't need room heating or hot water system. Utility bills and internet are cheap. Interruptions are rare and the repair services prompt. We have pillar boxes for posting letters and door to door deliveries, not so in some Countries. Health care is easily obtained, both Government and private, how you want to pay for it is your own choice. Immigration Office dealings can be exasperating but nowhere near as expensive to stay long term as some other Countries. Internal air travel is great value as are long distance coach and rail fares. Improvements to rail travel are underway, things can only get better!

Popular Post Screaming
"I'm sick of Thai food and I'm sick of Thai people" said just before the old German man jumped in anticipation of his death in Bangkok. I read about this story in the BP a few years ago and could understand his feelings. Sometimes I feel the same way but am not to the point of taking the fatal jump. Hopefully, I will be out of here before that happens. 2

Why people live in Thailand is a matter of choice. We learn to accept the good with the bad. Some don't, so they leave, as simple as that.
