Tougher health screening measures at Chiang Mai international airport

Due to recent surges in COVID-19 cases, Chiang Mai international airport has adopted an 8-step protocol, to make sure arriving passengers are safe, which may mean a delay of 2-3 hours before passengers are allowed to leave the airport following disembarkation.

 

The enhanced health screening process will be able to handle up to 100 passengers per hour, according to officials.

 

The first international flight to touch down at Chiang Mai international airport will arrive on November 5th, from South Korea, under the Charming Chiang Mai “sandbox” scheme. Between 70 and 102 domestic flights are also expected to land each day at the airport.

Morons. Covid is already widespread in CM. This will achieve nothing other than annoying those you’re trying to attract. Put all your efforts into vaccination, which you should’ve been doing months ago.

These "stringent measures" are merely a smokescreen to convince residents that the dirty farangs are being controlled. Meanwhile all the tens of thousands of infectious Thai, Burmese and others living here are moving around unfettered. The 400+ new cases per day are only the tip of the iceberg of what is in fact rampant Covid in Chiang Mai. And the hospitals are not able to cope.

I can not see any SHA hotels in CNX, I want to go CNX late December

But can you do that if you need to collect luggage and check-in again for next flight to CNX?

 

Or have you found an airline which will give you a conformed booking from your international departure point to Bkk and thru to CNX, all in one booking including airline transferring your luggage at Suvarnabhumi, to flight to CNX?  Please share.

This 'dirty farang' stuff sounds like a paranoid fantasy unless of course, you have read extensively the Thai press and can attest this is indeed a real, popular view. My Thai friends believe illegal immigrants and their Hi So employers are much more of a problem than dirty white foreigners of European heritage. They also consider the Chinese more unhygienic and I am told this view is reflected in Thai language papers. However, I agree that compared to Thais many foreigners do dress badly, shabbily and appear unkempt in greasy stained khaki cargo pants, vests and flip flops.
