Only six Covid-19 infections out of 4,510 tourists, a low 0.13 percent, were found in the past three days since the launch of the country reopening, Thailand’s Public Health Ministry reported today, November 3rd.

Dr. Sumanee Watcharasin, Director of Risk Communication and Health Behavior Development Bureau of the Ministry of Public Health, revealed to the Associated Press that a total of 4,510 people have entered the country on international flights since November 1st. TPN media notes that different Thai officials have given different numbers in terms of arrivals of international foreign tourists, as well as different departments, over the past few days but this appears to be the most realistic estimate so far.

Most arrivals are from Japan at number one, followed by Singapore, Germany, Qatar, and China respectively. Only six passengers were found infected with the Covid-19 Coronavirus, or 0.13 percent of arrivals.

But then again this is Thailand, Thai logic defies everything...

Sure wish Japan would offer some reciprocity.... even with more stringent hoops given our high Covid numbers.

What would be interesting is what were the nationalities of those who were infected and what vaccine were they reportedly inoculated with.

if they don't know, and have to wildly estimate, how many entered, even more so difficult would be to know how many positives were there.

so far, for phuket sandbox, that figure was 3x higher (but also included unvaccinated and untested thai citizens coming back through sandbox).

I would suspect a large part of those positives are thai

I was of the understanding that any/all dirty infected foreigners were to be held at secret detention facilities where they might be processed for a future date of public hangings.

Don't know what's worse 6 travellers with covid or only 1500 arrivals a day - rate is currently half their prediction of 1st 5 days now.

Be also interested to know where they were all from- dodgy vaccines or certificate - or just plain unlicky

That would make sense they would be Thai citizens but then again as it doesn't fit well with their nationalist xenophobic rheotoric and agenda, I guess we'll never know...

Yes but as they are Thai, not "dirty infected foreigners"...

What should be more disconcerting are the ever-dodgy test kits that are being employed - none of them were ever fail-safe.

They're being hunted down by elite haz-mat squads .

I was under the impression China has banned its citizens from outbound travel, unless they are essential workers abroad - and even then they are subject to a 3 week quarantine back home in China.

One positive for the breakfast buffet, and not being awoken with their hotel corridor antics this xmas..

On a more serious note the infection rate is on par with what Singapore saw roughly, although Thailand probably need a few more days of data and for all the silly agencies to all be telling the same arrival numbers before hard conclusions can be drawn, suspect Thailand will be a little higher - Singapore only accepting vaccinations certs that are digitally verifiable - no paper, a smaller 48hr PCR window and a smaller number of VTL only flights, and no exceptions to PCR for their own nationals

I would think the majority of entering are for work, family, retirement, long stay, health tourists for operations, treatments.

So they are not going back soon.

Very few tourists.

Still, china is on the 4th place. Before covid they were 27%

The false positive test result is reported to be 0,6 % on average.

So, the positive here is less than that.

In Sweden a company got caught not testing the samples just writing certificates and pocketing the money.

Around 100.000 certificates was issued by this company.

More likely to be returning Thai citizens than Chinese citizens I would think.

And now?

Everyone in the same aircraft will now have to go for 14days in quarantine?

How did these 6 got the virus in the first place when they are supposed to be fully vax and also negative test before boarding?

Did you not read there are many breakthrough cases in USA, UK and Israel? You can google for it or watch in Youtube for the evidence.

Vaccine doesn't prevent you from being infected, it prevents you from being hospitalized with severe illness.

What is important is that all the passengers were supposed to be Covid negative when boarding the place.

It goes to show that negative Covid cert & fully vacc cert can be bought or faked.

Because as it was said repetedly over and over again, being fully vaccinated doesn't grant you immunity to the COVID-19, it merely boosts your immune system fighting the disease the next time you catch it (again).

And by the look of things, it seems there is always a next time, it's like catching herpes, it's a gift that keep on giving... we all should be prepared to get used to live with COVID-19 because it ain't going nowhere and no amount of vaccination or social distancing or washing your hands, etc, etc, is going to change that.

It's a survival out there, adapt and learn to live with it or else...

Coming from China doesn't mean they are Chinese citizens. They could have been foreigners or Thai citizens working in China.

I think these are not foreigners, but Thai citizens without vaccination or PCR test.  Otherwise, we would know the nationality of these 6 "dirty farangs"

Yes, I am aware of that but didn't they actually took the Covid test before boarding to get the Thailand pass?

You are confused.

Vaccines can prevent up to 90% of infections.

That's why vaccination rate generally coincides with lower infection rates.

Vaccination can reduce the chance of infection by up to 90%.

The epidemic will go away when enough anti-Vaxxers get infected.

Haha, yes that is why UK topped highest infections per day 4 or so days ago with one of the highest vaccination rates in world according to worldometer

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/#countries

..but of course that is "FAKE NEWS !"

I'm not saying don't get vaccinated, I just think the current generation of vaccines will be superceded with something more effective hopefully.
