Politics is more important than public health. The Pfizer doses ran afoul of some sort of political group and the Polish vaccines had some problems as well. The government could have facilitiated both deals but found it advantageous not to. It's clear where their priorities lay.

Didn't they try that before?

Got lost in the post or something?

Major delays occur when they try to figure out how to extract brown envelopes from a vaccine given away for free.

Yes but ...  The American government will find a way.  There may well be strings attached to this gift, attached themselves to brown envelopes. Why I just don't know, that American government just doesn't learn.

1.5 million of the same vaccine not approved from Poland only recently, why is that?

Because the USA has a far greater " media reach" if you were to mess them around by allowing various "interested parties" to get involved, than Poland does.

Absolutely not a reflection on the generosity of Poland, but a reflection of the self interested "real politik" which drives this comic opera chorus line!

I got 2 of them, for free, and so did thousands of other expats and school children.

You got two of the 1.5 million the US had already donated free, not the extra 1 million that they also wanted to donate back in July but did not because they were waiting for the paperwork for weeks from the Thai government.

It seems this donation is a replacement to that.
